Anybody going to watch the 5 PM 'Happy Hour' debate . . ?

*** (top 10) Thursday at 9 PM for 2 hours . . ?

*** (outside the top 10) Thursday at 5 PM for 1 hour.

I watched parts of the first one. I was pretty impressed by Carly Fiorina. I kind of liked Gilmore too. Everyone else was kind of what I expected.

I agree, Grill . . Both of them were pretty impressive, Carly with maybe a little better night.

Rick Perry looked well rehearsed and quite confident, IMO. Of course, he had really no where to go but up.

Tried to watch but kept hitting mute button. This summer isn't even over yet and we have a whole other summer and fall to go before actuall election. These debates seem like the GOP trying to look busy while they don't actually do anything in congress

Trump is a buffoon.

Thought Rubio, Christie, Kasich, Carson and Carly had the best evenings. Unfortunately not a one of them has a shot.

I thought Huckabee, Rubio, Kassich and Christie did their campaigns some good. I think all 4 of them will get a boost in ratings.

Trump wasn't very good. Bush was so-so . . Paul sucked. Carson didn't get to speak enough, but, his sense of humor was on display.

Fox news went after Trump tonight . . I'd say that the Donald damn sure didn't win over any female voters with that performance.

Watched almost all of both debates and enjoyed them. Fiorina was fantastic and I thought Cruz did very well. Trump was entertaining as always. Carson is by far the most intelligent and seemingly honest candidate but he'll never connect with the majority of voters, aka 'The Uninformed.'

Overall the GOP has provided some very early excitement in this election cycle and the Dems will have a hard time matching it. Hildabeast continues to slide backwards and Papaw Biden may join the race. Fun stuff!

God somebody KILL ME!! U telling me i have to choose from people who evidently want to establish a theocracy, trump who looks and sounds like a clown, and hillary??!!!

Anyway rubio seemed the most polished. Carson was hilarious and refreshing. Trump got ambushed and didnt handle it well. Bush bores the hell outta me. Walker has the worst bald spot ever.

Biggest loser was fox news. Kelly is flaming hot but she showed all kinds of bias against trump.

Only fox news could fit god and veterans into a question.

Exactly what I took from it.

Me and a few Ron Paul friends watched it all. It's really a shame that the Fox News Channel has managed to garner such impact and presence on the political spectrum. It's actually frightening. It's like it purposely caters to low IQ people, exploits them, sells advertising and gets more of them to become transfixed to their, what amounts to, brainwashing. Red meat to people who are obsessed with 2 or 3 things that are so trivial to their existence in the grand scheme of things.

I never watch TV news and haven't paid much attention to any of the presidential discussion since the summer of 2012. When I used to watch the debates before, I was watching to see how Ron Paul would do against the others because he was literally the only one who was any different from the rest. Now, they're basically clones up there! And, Fox's mediation and choice of questions??? I sometimes think Fox was invented to help destroy the GOP slowly but surely. There is no real Republican Party thanks, in large part, to the ideology that is manufactured from that source. They have everyone mired and focused on religion, abortion, bashing gays, and how best to kill Muslims. And, THAT defines and measures "conservative" to them. It will shrink with every new generation, and has been for 40 years. Having the "Moral Majority" and the church leech-on to the GOP has killed that party's effectiveness. It's a shame because there are 2 or 3 candidates that have some incentive and some clarity, but they get asked these dumb questions about "How much do you pray?" or "Would you still love your gay child?" They literally asked "What has God told you to do?" It's like they are trying to make the GOP look like the Church Lady-Church Party.

Strum i felt sorry for your boy. Christie bullied him and then fox gave him far less speaking time than the others.

Meh- Rand Paul was looking for a fight in trying to make a name for himself. He screwed up by trying to fight with a former federal prosecutor.

In a one v one debate Christie would kill any of these guys, with the possible exception of Rubio.

I thought Rubio looked very confident, also thought he was the best-dressed candidate of all 17. Not that it matters much to me, just an observation . . Rand Paul the worst, at times when he is on TV, he looks like he slept in his clothes.

I did love Rand's "You gave Obama a big hug...." line to Donut. That was classic!

Nope, but I'd say any random GOPer should be able to wipe the floor with any random DEMer anytime IF the debate moderator allows it.

Well, the questions they asked him were, like the others, to try and force him to back-up his more controversial stances. Christie had to resort to 9-11 pandering sympathy. Chris Christie is beaming with crookedness. And, yes, like his Dad, Rand got the very least speaking time.

Rand is much more of a politician than his dad. Rand doesn't really have strong convictions, or he doesn't seem ready to stand by them (which few politicians do) against all odds. I was disappointed he didn't address something about monetary policy. Americans want their politicians to waiver and waffle and deceive. As George Carlin said "If honesty were suddenly somehow introduced into American Politics, it would throw everything off." Americans have gotten exactly what they've asked for.

For me personally, and I have always felt this way -- I couldn't give two sh!ts about these debates. We have one of the worst presidents in the country's history currently who excelled at debating and speaking to a crowd.

I'm more interested in someone who get get the damn job done, and I really couldn't care any less if they don't "debate well."

Maybe a poor one, but an analogy here -- in school, you have those folks who were excellent "test-takers" who could easily obtain straight A's and a perfect GPA....but couldn't even manage a McDonalds once out of school. I kinda equate that to this debate process. To hell with speaking and rallying a crowd - show me results.

But that's JMHO.

And as for Fox News' overreaction to Trump not pledging his allegiance to the Republican party -- go cry in a beer somewhere, seriously. Grow a pair. That whole notion just screams "more of the same" to me in terms of us being a divided nation. All of this "WE will win" crap that a few of them spilled about the Republican party in general...I'm actually glad Trump took that road. It's not about one party or the next anymore, it should be able getting the damn job done. Plain and simple.

It's refreshing to see disdain for the religious pandering. It really does make you wonder how Faux News has maintained any credibility whatsoever for this long.

I couldn't manage a McDonalds. Pretty sure I'd put a bullet in my chin in the parking lot by the end of the first day.

You should follow the presidency a little more closely. Bush hasn't been president for nearly 8 years now...

BWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Highest rated cable news network on the air these days - way above the Clinton News Network (CNN), MSDNC, CNBC

In the estimation of many reporters who cover the political and media beats, Fox News was the winner of the first GOP debate. And with the just-released ratings we can confirm that.
A whopping 24 million watched the debate from 9 p.m. ET to just past 11 p.m. ET. FNC drew 7.9 million in the A25-54 demo.

May want to dial the your stupidity back a smidge...

Popularity and credibility are two entirely different things Nukey. You might want to be a little less liberal with the word stupidity next time...

He can't measure one without the other. Partisans must measure by popularity, even if it's horrible policy and structure.

Ya got me, dude... In the words of Christian Finnegan, "Stupid always wins!" (you can figure out if I'm referring to you or GW Bush)

The fact that stupid liberals like yourself find CNN, MSDNC, ABC, CBS, NBC credible doesn't surprise me; neither does the fact that maobama has spent his entire presidency trying to discredit FOXNEWS. The fact that it only took one news organization to single-handedly stymie the most powerful liberal in the world must really suck for you; and, thus your attempt to demean the network. Just one network screwed you up.... big time.

Actually I don't consider any of those networks to be credible, considering their all subsidiaries of one of about three corporations who run the media. For someone who spends all their time telling other people what they think, you aren't particularly good at it.

I don't tel you what you're thinking, I'm telling you what you're saying. And, what you say is stupid.

So surely you wont have a hard time finding a post where I expressed my support for those networks?

I fear you're absolutely right when it comes to Carson, bleed. I think if he were surrounded with the right cabinet, Carson would be a FANTASTIC president. Like you said though, he's going to struggle to connect with those that vote just based on people that they've heard of.

Tons of people watched it. The problem for the right is that many watched for the entertainment factor. I'm not sure that is a good sign for the right, though I do think there are probably some decent candidates out there. I'm not sure they will run the one who can win though (not even sure who that is to be honest). I'm not a fan of Hillary at all though.
