My #1 . . and the first song of theirs that refers to marijuana. These boys were light years ahead of everyone, and one of the greatest bands ever, if, not the greatest.

‘While my guitar gently weeps’ has always been my favorite. Also a diehard Clapton fan, and his solo on that tune is amazing. Not a fan of the fact that they didn’t bother to give him credit for it on the album though...

You look back at the 'Meet the Beatles ' album and all the great music on it back in the day and it's like WOW . . !

My favorite under the radar Beatles song:

Awesome song!

If I ever go into a music store, and find a keyboard I like, I dial in the right setting and I play the intro chords to that song! It's simple, obviously. A G-chord with a C added.

The Beatles have such a huge catalog. I'm not a huge fan of much before Rubber Soul.

I like some of the more obscure songs, anyway.

She Said, She Said

Tomorrow Never Knows

Only A Nothern Song

Baby, You're A Rich Man

My favorite Beatles album is Let It Be, without hesitation.

The Apple Rooftop performance is amazing...

Wow. Let it Be is WAY down on my list. The album barely got made because they couldn't be in the same room as each other and they basically scrapped the stuff until the label was desperate for more material after they broke up. John even admitted, "we gave him (Spector) the biggest load of crap and he turned it into something not terrible".

My album order goes:

Revolver
Sgt Pepper
Rubber Soul
White Album
Magical Mystery
Abbey Road
Help
Beatles for Sale
Hard Days Night
Let it Be
Please Please Me
With the Beatles

I know you're trolling but seriously, outside of those 5 songs the Lennon/McCartney solo work is mostly shit. Same with George outside of All Things Must Pass...that album is legendary.

What's good that I didn't name?

Plastic Ono Band is ok. Imagine is a wonderful song obviously, but the rest of that album is meh. The rest of his solo work are just mediocre love songs to Yoko. Fact: he made better music during his "long weekend" when he was with May Pang and collaborating with other musicians in LA.

Outside of Maybe I'm Amazed, McCartney album is just bleh. Ram is bleh, so light. Band on the Run has its moments, but it is such a drastic lower quality from anything he made from 1964-69.

George made ATMP, which as I mentioned, is an absolute classic. Outside of that? Nothing much.

Ringo arguably had the best solo work from 1970-75...that's pretty scary.

Sorry, I'm kind of a Beatles snob, I've read far far far far too much about them.

If you think all of their solo work, except for a few songs, is crap, then that's your opinion.

"Fact: he made better music during his "long weekend" when he was with May Pang and collaborating with other musicians in LA."

The fact is your opinion. lol "Better music" is bout as subjective as you can get.

ETA: Reading "about them" is not being them, and it's surely not creating music. We all have our preferences and what speaks to us and sounds good.

What actual albums, like 80% of the album, do you like from their solo work? I can only say that about All Things Must Pass.

AND MY OPINION IS FACT

I rarely like 80% of any album, by any artist, from any time in their career.

I still think McCartney and Harrison were making very good music well into the 1980's. Just the fact that they were still doing it and it was popular is saying something.

It's not going to have the same legacy or impact as when they were The Beatles. Then again, I always seem to find that the timing is everything. The Beatles were the right thing at the right time. And, it sparked something even bigger.

You have read a lot about them, so you can relate to this; Ya ever notice how they will always (doesn't matter who the artist is) will say "We never expected this to last more than a year or two at the very most." That always sticks-out to me. That tells me that they had no precedent before that and the longer it lasted, the more THAT (the longevity) had an effect. I definitely believe that the music they made from their youth is more prolific. But, for someone who was in high school when "I Got My Mind Set On You", that song can have a lot of meaning... because of the timing for them. Is that song "better" than "What Is Life"? it depends on who you ask.

I've seen people think Belushi's SNL Samurai character was boring and totally unfunny. But, they laugh hysterically at Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri's Spartan Cheerleaders.

I’m sorry if my musical tastes aren’t up to your standards.

Personally I never cared much for the Beatles. As for Albums I liked 80% of I will take Pink Floyd and Guns n Roses. However, Roger Waters might be the biggest asshole alive.

Roger Waters just fvcking rocks . .

@BillyL he is a musical genius imo but like I said a complete British ass who lives in NY. I'm sure you were good at delivering stops but.....

Yeah, I think that's one of the things that no one gives them credit for, they had literally no precedent, no one they could ask for advice, no one ever showing them how to or not to do that level of fame. The fact they handled it as well as they did is remarkable.

Definitely better music in their youth. Lennon has this great quote that I read somewhere but can't find anywhere on the internet about being 24. Basically someone asked him how he wrote so many songs on Hard Days Night and why he seemed to slow down in his later years. He simply responded, I was 24. You can't always be 24. You can't have that energy, that emotion, etc. when you get older. I think it's true for all musicians.

Ya know, I get that some people may not care for the Beatles, but I least hope they can appreciate the influence the Beatles had on many of the artists they do like. What’s really impressive is the quality and quantity of their output, especially when compared to today. They recorded over 200 songs and released 12 LP’s (12.5 if you count Yellow Submarine) in 7 years. They did all that and were broken up before they were even 30.

Personally, I prefer to listen to a good album from start to finish, rather than just cherry pick a few hit songs. All of the Beatles albums are very good to me, but my favorite is Revolver. As a kid in the mid-70's, I remember listening to the entire album for the first time (well, actually it was my dad's 8 track tape... LOL), and just being blown away by all the different songs and sounds; from the opening count-in / cough of "Taxman" to the closing, LSD-influenced "Tomorrow Never Knows". It's still considered one the greatest rock albums of all time for a good reason. Plus, the album cover was visually cool.

Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream...
