I watched this mini-series this week after it won many Emmys on Sunday, and I have to say I'm glad no one spoiled the ending because I didn't see it coming! ;)

Seriously though, I'm not sure if any of you watched it, but I thought it was well-done and certainly entertaining. As a person who was 5 when the verdict came through, there were certain things I knew about the trial and various other things, but there were certain details that I was unaware of (as the show presented them, which they may have taken some artistic license with, but still, they had to stay fairly truthful). The show features plenty of moments that having the benefit of hindsight makes you go "No, don't do that, you idiot, that's gonna lead to a not guilty!" but I thought that made it even more compelling in a way because even knowing the outcome, it was fascinating to see how they got there. There are a couple of sort of cheesy moments, after all, the guy making the show created Glee and American Horror Story as well, but overall, the acting was very solid and I thought they did a good job telling the story that everyone knows in a new and interesting way. So I'd say it's worth checking out if you haven't already.

I agree. Having watched the actual trial and then this I learned just a few new things BUT you really should watch the one that is now on Hulu from ESPN that is a five part documentary! THAT is one hundred times better to watch about OJ. It touches base on EVERYTHING.

OJ was one of my boyhood heroes. I still have the SI from when he went over 2000 yards. 2,003 to be exact. I went into the trial thinking there was no possible way he did it. When it ended I wondered how in the world they found him not guilty. We watched the entire trial on Court TV. Day after day after day. There was absolutely no doubt who murdered those two people. None. I don't know who I was the most disappointed in...OJ, or the American justice system. What a farce.

Knowing that he was guilty, I couldn't make myself watch him get acquitted again because of that idiot Mark Fuhrman.
I knew that Fuhrman stuff was coming, and the way they present it, Darden is telling Marcia not to make him testify and I'm going "listen to him, Marcia!" Sure enough, it goes poorly for the prosecution.

(No worries)

If Fuhrman hadn't made his racist comments in the past, or if someone else had been the one to find the gloves, I think OJ would have been convicted. They used his racist remarks to plant just enough of a seed of doubt to screw the prosecution. The burden of proof in murder trials is very high, and rightfully so. I think it's poetic justice that OJ got away with murder, yet still couldn't keep his act together and committed another crime that sent him to prison. You would think a man wouldn't jaywalk after getting away with murder. But Aaron Hernandez actually tried to get away with a third murder after being acquitted of the first two.

Thank goodness most criminals aren't very intelligent.

I don't think there was any way OJ was going to be convicted, with out with out Fuhrman. Too many people, both black and white, thought OJ was a hero.

I will add that I don't think anybody on the jury thought he didn't kill her but they were not going to convict him for it.

They speak with the jurors in the ESPN doc and I just shook my head at some of what they said. The glove was a big part of his acquittal because it "didn't" fit.

Of course it didn't fit, it was blood soaked leather going over latex gloves on a man who no doubt was making sure he expanded his hands as much as he could trying it on. Take the glove now minus the latex glove and knock his ass out and that glove will slide on perfectly!!!!!

Semi-related, I realized about halfway through watching it that another recent show had portrayed people involved in this case. On Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, in the first season, there is a trial where an obviously very guilty man is in jeopardy of getting acquitted due to two bumbling prosecutors, who look like this

I about lost it when I figured that out.

i agree with this...in fact, the espn doc pretty much made a mockery of the selection, jury deliberations, and post trial.
