That thought crosses my mind any time I'm traveling in the western U.S. I try to imagine what a family or traveling party with horses and covered wagons would have thought when they ran into (mountains, rivers, deserts, fill in the blank _____).

I saw The Revenant a few months ago or so. I'm in the minority, obviously, but I found it to be a bit boring. It's basically just Leonardo DiCaprio crawling around for two hours. The bear mauling was the only intriguing scene. Just didn't do it for me. Now if he had bloodied up a volleyball and made friends with it to team up during his journey, that would have sent it over the top, IMO.
