Who watches? Anyone read the novels? I watched the first season live, liked it a lot, but figured they wouldn't be able to sustain it because it seemed like the last couple episodes of the season lost steam. Then, as so often happens, I forgot to start watching season 2 when it aired and then just said "F it." Well, I'm back watching it now, almost done with season 2 on Hulu. I like it a lot. It has a lot of what's good from The Walking Dead, while stripping away what's bad (read: boring and/or melodramatic) about The Walking Dead.

I'll have to find some way to watch Season 3 before Season 4 starts this fall. Anyone else watch? There's also some serious babes in that show.

I watched a few episodes and liked it , but now I can't remember what network it comes on.

Damnnn I finished season 3 over the weekend. The ending of season 3 is... intense.

Can't wait for season 4 to come out here in the next couple months.

it's been a year but isn't that when the nuke went off? I'm kind of tired of this whole master being unable to be killed bullshit, feel like the show is running in circles.

Yes, I'm talking about the nuke going off. And they really only broached the "the Master can't be killed" thing toward the last few episodes of Season 3. Quinlan killed his human host, but his essence is trapped in that giant red worm, which escaped.

Yeah, you could say it's sorta running in circles, and there are certainly aspects they introduce and then put on the back burner or never mention ago, so it isn't perfect. But I do really enjoy the show. It's a really cool take on vampires and returns much more to vampires from Eastern European folklore, rather than the douchey "romantic" vampires of the Dracula movies and moving into the Twilight and Vampire Diaries shit. So I think that's cool. I like how they tie it into "real" history like the WWII flashbacks, Setrekian's 1960s and 70s flashbacks, and the 19th century Romanian flashbacks.

I don't watch the show, so you can both GFY just because.

Just finished the first book from the trilogy. I have to say, even though I know the books were written literally with a movie/TV show in mind, FX still did an outstanding job bringing the books to life.

I'll also say I enjoy the show's rendition better than the books. The show made a good call creating the character of Eickhorst (he doesn't exist in the books; the Master just does all his own bidding) IMO. That's a nice added layer. And I like the show's representation of Setrakian better than that of the book. Still though, I plan to read the final two books.

I really liked the books. I saw the first few episodes of the show. I liked it, though thought some of the acting was kind of below average. I need to watch it one day, though according to some of the spoilers here it apparently takes some very different paths than the books.

The overall path is the same for the first seaso, there's just more characters added in to give the show more characters. I will say the first season takes an episode or two to get going and some of the acting from ancillary characters in the first couple episodes is pretty mediocre, but once it hits its stride, it really gets going. The first few episodes of the first season are pretty damn scary. And then it moves on to a more suspense thriller type of vibe.

Quinlan is an extremely badass character.
