That was the best WC of my lifetime. 5 games decided by PKs. Simply incredible.
Funny though, France got back in the game when Argentina started worrying about calls more than actual play. I thought the officials did a nice job in that final game. They never lost control of the game. And despite the flopping, that game and the whole WC was super physical.

I am amazed when people complain that soccer is boring because of the dearth of scoring.
The last 45 minutes of regulation and overtime in the Argentina/France final was sports at its most riveting.
Also, the flopping essentially subsided because both teams knew that time was of the essence.
Soccer players fake and flop to get a break from the constant running and intense
physicality; there are no time-outs for that. The fitness of soccer players at all levels beyond
middle school is generally superb to extreme due to the essence of futbol.

I'm one of those complainers. But I agree with you that this was a really good game. Which, in my mind, just means it was an exception.
Plus, relatively speaking, this was a high scoring game.
Here's another way to look at it...
Each side had one genuinely beautiful scoring sequence. In a basketball game you might have a dozen or more comparably beautiful scoring plays. Well, maybe not if Virginia is playing, but you know what I mean.
If only UNC football could have a few of those...
In my opinion soccer is boring as dirt. tried to watch it years ago to see what all the fuss was about, and I wasn’t impressed. If I want to be bored I will watch paint dry. For those who enjoy it I say congrats. I don’t see how it’s entertaining in the least. Just my .02 worth 😉
