The 'You Peeple Ready 4 a Wknd thread . . ?

Our big two-man golf scramble is this weekend. Most all of the good amateurs around here (and a few who have just gotten their amateur status back) play in it. My nephew by marriage (who plays college golf) asked me to be his partner. We also happen to be playing with a couple of his friends on the first day, which happen to be the guys who won the whole thing last year. So I'm hoping to simply not embarrass myself too bad...and for us to shoot better Sunday than Saturday, haha.

Good luck man!

I just don't want to embarrass myself. I'm playing with three guys who regularly play tournament golf in the high 60s and low 70s, where I play tournament golf in the low to mid 80s.

I play best with better players. Key is to change your mindset...spend your time getting ready thinking about some of your best shots you've ever hit (thinking about embarrasing yourself brings your misses to the front of your mind instead of your good shots and results in poor confidence)...keep those great shots in your mind and then warm up only hitting a few range balls and tell yourself you're only warming up, not making swing adjustments. Trust your swing...spend most of your time practicing chips and short putts snd see the ball go in the hole...lots! Confidence is key. Watch those guys pre-shot routine and take some of it for yourself...spend time thinking about the routine instead of results and you're off to the races. Again good luck!

Oh yeah, I'm not really that concerned with embarrassing myself. I am very into my own game when I play and don't really care about anything else. If I hit a bad shot I don't ever care what anyone thinks. Except for me. I'm usually pretty ok over my shot. I feel like I'm going to hit it well. Sometimes I shouldn't though, haha.

We ended shooting 4 under and then 8 under. We got second in our flight and 200 each though so that wasn't bad. The guys we were paired with on the first day shot 11 under for that 18, which is strong for a two man (especially on this course). They were the defending champs though.

Here is a picture of me, as unattractive as it is, that made the local sports site. No idea why they choose this to be one of them.

Hey 2 fly, let's get these guys in a good mood! Been way too Sirius around here lately!

Now @BillyL, you know I'm right there with you!

I know I'm in good company too . . !

All I got to say is, f**k a bunch of chain restaurants! I'm grilling on the deck, looking at the Pamlico River, drinking a cold one, and I couldn't care less about what a bunch of dudes think about The Cheesecake Factory or Cracker Barrell!

So . . . how everybody's wknd going . . ?
Not bad, thanks for asking.

Caught up with my old college roommate on Saturday morning. Pressure washed parts of my house and the whole patio, then finished most of the driveway and sidewalks before the flex hose to the nozzle sprung a leak (doh!). Repaired the railing on my patio that had been loose for years. Repainted the Adirondacks on my patio. Sat on the patio step drinking bourbon and watching a rain storm with my dogs.

How about you, Billy?

All is good for myself . . cleaned the gutters & the roof yesterday. I'd like to get a new roof on the house this fall.

I grilled beef & chicken shish kabobs for tonite's dinner, added some asparagus and last night I put together a rather nicely done banana puddin' . .

The weather here in Metro DC was just awesome . . 85 degrees w/ low humidity.

Okay OOTB folks . .

What's for Friday night's dinner . . ? Anything being grilled . . ?

What's this wknd's biggest & best attraction on your schedule . . ?

Are you traveling . . . ?

Had the gfs family over all weekend w their disobedient ass kids. I'm about to lose my shit.
My uncle (he's 61) recently had the ultimate mid-life crisis and met, married, and procreated with a Chinese woman while living in UAE. She's actual Chinese, mind you, not just of Chinese descent.

Long story short, now there's an 8- and a 5-year-old Chinese-American addition to the family and their mother disciplines them exactly like the stereotypical Asian mother... i.e. not at all. So they are wild hellions of kids.

They're arriving at my parents' house in 3 hours and I have to be there as well. Kill me.

I think it's Breakfast for Dinner Night at my house.

Tomorrow we're taking the 4yo to a water park and having my aunt and uncle over for dinner, so it'll be a big day.

Sunday we're going out to Dad's for grilling and hopefully a boat ride.

Hope y'all have a good weekend.

Belle is already 4 . . My Lord, how time flies . . have fun @ the Water Park.

Enjoy yours, J-man . .

I have my fantasy football draft this weekend at Smith Mountain lake. One of our guys has a ridiculous house there and he's hosted the last couple of years. I'll golf in the morning, spend the afternoon on a boat on the lake, we'll draft in the evening while cooking out and then cap the night off with the Mayweather/McGregor fight. Throw in some cold beer, some good bourbon and some grass and I'm pretty fu*kin' excited about getting away for the weekend.

What great weather you will have this wknd @ SML . .

My 10 year old has a soccer tournament in C-ville all weekend. So we'll be eating out a lot. Might get to grill out on Monday. If so, I still have about 15 yellowfin steaks left from my off shore fishing trip back in April. You might be thinking, "OMG, how could you still have that left?" We caught so many fish that day (made limit on tuna and our boat had the highest total weight of the 11 boats that went out of Oregon Inlet that day). We've enjoyed tuna all summer long.

Went to see Buddy Guy at Austin City Limits last night. At 81, he still rocks! Had way too many double whiskeys. Driving back home tomorrow. Should be interesting to see if I can get through.
