Thread for those of us who ain't quitting....

Roy would play those guys all year long in an effort to bring them along. K sits them on his bench and cries crocodile tears about how short his bench is. Yes, it is short. But part of that lack of depth is totally voluntary.

The rest of the duke bench isn't that great at all. The fact Roy would play the slackers, and K doesn't risk playing the slackers, shows why K has dominated Roy of late. Roy coaches like its a youth league, and he needs to make sure everyone on his bench gets their minutes and stays happy and engaged. K coaches like it's a slate of games that he wants to win, so he plays the players that will enable him to do so.

Jackson was widely considered a top 10-12 prospect in his class , Pinson top 20-25 , and Berry top 25-30.

I just looked and Rivals had Pinson at 17 (247 Composite was 15), Jackson at 11 (247 Composite was 9) and Hicks was 16 (247 also had him at 16). Berry was # 27 (247 Composite was 30).

That's actually 3 guys in the top 20.

Didn't want this thread to divulge into yet another dissection of the game and coaching strategies. Just wanted the like-minded posters to know that someone here (me) is disappointed in the result last night but STILL VERY EXCITED about this season and I'm not too embarrassed or proud to stand up and defend Roy, the team and look ahead to Saturday's game.

It's still AGDTBATH. I still have us as the favorites to win the title.

Not even close to being done with this team, if anything, I'm even more intrigued to see how they bounce back from this. Still a lot of basketball to be played, let's go baby!!!

No one will ever challenge my loyalty to all of the Carolina sports program. I did not lose any sleep last night and I am still proudly wearing my Carolina sweatshirt. Just because the team lost a close one last night it is not the end of the world. If the team does not always play up to my selfish personal satisfaction and loses, my ego for perfection does not change

Yes that is very childish because BB games regardless of the win or the loss will never make me BAD mouth any of the team's because I prefer to enjoy the ride year after year...

Hicks was class of 2013. Jackson , Pinson , Berry were 2014.

These rankings can be wrong and why I tell folks to temper expectations no matter who their team is with frosh. No matter how highly ranked they are. As good as Ingram is it's taken him some time to adjust and develop this season.

sucks to lose ... least Roy did congratulate K & his team for there hard play ... Roy isn't a poor loser that ive ever seen .......... if we would have pulled a K to run and bark at the refs we would have never heard the end of it & the ncaa would have investigated why too !! Go Heels and Dook Still Sux !!

Bleed, thanks for the thread.

As the final buzzer sounded I said to myself I'd keep away from this board, and did for at least half a day..... shoulda been longer!

Plain and simple, the game stunk, the team stunk (except for Brice) and Roy stunk. But I too don't believe in using a bad performance to go on a 300 post rampage.

Yes, losing to Dook and losing ugly hurts. It hurts both this years team and recruiting for the future.
But the season isn't over. There are still games to play, watch and follow.

And ya know what? No matter what anyone says on this board, Roy is still going to be the coach against Miami and he'll probably be the coach next year and the year after.

So peeps here can hissy fit all they like, unless they're a really massive freaking donor to the school their opinion (and mine for that matter) means squat!

Now, on to Miami, March and hopefully April!

PS. My opinion really does mean nothing, just look at the prediction contest standings!!!

Well said, Oz. And yes, if Roy wants to return next year (which I think is 50/50) then I'll welcome him with open arms !!! BEAT THE CANES !!!!

Apparently you set your expectations of this thread too high. :( Good idea though.

So some of you are ok with Roy continuing to make the same mistakes year after year, game after game?

K is a far superior coach. Roy could NEVER go on the road and win with 5 guys. Ever.

So can you not read or are you a complete jerk? There are multiple threads with you and some of the usual culprits bashiñg the staff and the players. We have one thread dedicated to positive support of the team/staff and despite being very politely asked to do so, you feel obligated to spew your vitriol anyway. You have some serious issues buddy.

Anyone who is that upset with a loss, any loss, needs to put things in perspective. I used to rant and rave after losses too, but I stopped when I became an adult. Some of you sound like you're 11 years old. Never lose sight of the fact that it's a sports game and inconsequential in the big scheme of life. It's certainly nothing that should cause so much angst among our fans.

I'm still excited about the rest of the season. We're about where I thought we'd be at this point in the season. But then I had realistic expectations coming in. Most of our fans didn't, I'm afraid. So I'll continue to enjoy the season and you can continue to show your immaturity/lack of class.

Go Heels!

I'm actually very surprised that none of our posters picked up or wanted to comment on Bleed's post . .

50/50 . . . ? I can only assume that there are health issues that may have more of an impact than previously known.

That's exactly right. We have a good record, with no bad losses to date, so why freak out? I'm assuming that people who expected us to win a championship were not expecting us to go undefeated. Why is the world coming to an end? And what happens if we make that last shot? Are we significantly better today if we win by one? Our record may be, but it's still the same team. All of the issues with the team would remain and we all know what the issues are by now. Let's just watch the rest of the season and see how it plays out. We are still in control of our own destiny.

Want Roy back no doubt if his heart is in it and he can handle the toll. Either way the heir apparent discussion needs to start happening at least from a standpoint of identifying legit targets to replace Roy. I don't see Roy around past the duration of this current contract he will be 70 at the conclusion of that season.

Edit: Coincidentally or not? ACC tourney is in Charlotte and Greensboro in 2019 and 2020. Roy's last 2 contractual years. I really hope he can rebound and finish strong these next 4 years and get one more Natty.

3 puts you in a pretty elite group. Maybe not K or Wooden numbers but up their with guys like Calhoun and Knight from a numbers standpoint. Which would put him top 10 of all time easy. Probably closer to top 6-8 to ever do it.

Very curious to see how this team reacts in the Virginia game.
Both good teams that seem to lose their identity and focus from time to time.

I hope we see both play at a high level. It's too late in the season to have let downs.

I'd like to see UVa do well the rest of the way. But not at our expense.

I believe this team is bored..but I think they'll play well tomorrow..I think they want the tournaments to get here..play for the trophies...but I'm sure they want the ACC regular season Title too.

yes the 50/50 comment gives me some concerns. Please elaborate if you can
Just a somewhat educated hunch. There are health issues throughout his family ... he's saying goodbye to a couple special seniors and we all know how much he loves to be with his kids and grandkids. Just wouldn't surprise me, that's all.

Roy will decide when it's time to hang it up. Think he will give Tar Heel nation plenty of warning when he knows it's time.

We have lost 3 conference games by a grand total of 11 points. This teams best games are yet to come. Enjoy the ride. I will.

I will never throw in the towel. This team is scary when they are just average from three.
