I am going to be very disappointed if we don’t utilize our TE’s more this year. With Downs being our only proven WR and TE seemingly a position of strength, it would appear to be a no brainer. We don’t need to go downfield as much as we have the last 2-3 years, just move those chains.

passing to rb's can also be a potent weapon, especially with yards after catch. we need a full arsenal of weapons against a very tough schedule.
Indeed. A 4 yard pass on first down is just as effective as a 4 yard run. It leaves us with manageable yardage and play calling options. We took too many shots downfield on first down or on second and long. We need to avoid having so many long yardage downs where the defense can pin their ears back and go after our QB. 3 yards on first down, 4 on second, and 3 on third still moves the chains. I think play calling is especially crucial this year with a questionable OL. Let’s hope Longo utilizes our backs and our TE’s more in the passing game to lessen the pressure on our OL and on our QB. Just move the damn chains.

Of course you can use the short passing game the way a good running game moves the chains and controls the ball. And that is best done by using TEs and RBs as well as WRs.

WE have at least TEs we know can run good routes and make catches. We need to use them. T

It helps that neither of our QBs needs a stationary pocket to be effective! We have TEs that can lineup anywhere and be effective and a few really explosive even though young backs! I'm very excited about this year!
