Those aren't my teams, but they should be great games.

I don't usually watch full games of teams other than Carolina but they might qualify as exceptions. Especially if I get around to making a snack run this afternoon.

Anybody else planning to watch?

Who do you like in these matchups?

Looking at the ESPN Scoreboard, I see

Duke -1.5 over MSU
Kansas -4.5 over Kentucky

Duke, Kansas and MSU have thrashed creampuffs so far (2 of them in Duke's case). Kentucky has had trouble with somewhat tougher competition.

So far, Cal has started 5 freshmen in each of UK's 2 games, with another freshman being either 1st or 2nd off the bench. Both Gabriel and SKJ are getting good minutes. Frankly, I'm surprised Gabriel isn't starting. I guess those guys just aren't that good. Or is it the school they chose? Those who are interested will get to see tonight. I'm mildly interested, because we offered those guys (and several others on that team).

I've seen a few minutes of Duke and of Kansas. Duke looked scary good. Kansas, not so much.

I'm taking Duke and UK to win. Although I'll be rooting for MSU, of course. I almost always root for ACC teams. But it's hard to root for Duke.

Duke / MSU can go either way, but I would be shocked if Kentucky beats Kansas. Kentucky has talent, but they're really young and going against a team with far more experience.

duke and kentucky both played utah valley...duke won by 30 uk won by 9

Me too MW!
I'd say KU by more than 4.5 pts. though.
I'd reverse the Dook/MSU and call it for MSU by 2-3 pts.

Pulling for KU and Mich St. I think KU will wipe the floor with Kensucky. Just not sure about Dook vs Mich St. I hope McTrippy loses it tonight and throws a hissy fit though.
It will be interesting to see if he can keep his cool the whole season.

If you are playing against him, do you try to provoke him?

Yeah, if Duke were playing Kentucky, I'd take that to the bank. Kansas against UK might be enough different.

It may take a while for the UK players to get the hang of things. But they have plenty of athleticism. Clearly having no experience and uncertainty at point is hurting them. But it seems to me that Cal's system is easier to learn. So how fast will the better players catch on?

The reason I expect Duke and UK to win is that despite youth, they just have more talent at more positions. So it becomes a question whether more talent can beat more experience this early in the season. Maybe not. We'll find out.

Will the Rat go deeper than 6-7 tonight?
Good question. Against the first 2 creampuffs, he went deep into his bench. Eight and 9 guys getting double digit minutes. But will he do that against MSU?

He should. He has a good bench this season. A few years ago when he had a good bench, he played them. This could be another such year.

Hmmm, taking a closer look at Kansas, they might well clobber UK tonight. A couple more good players than I was thinking. The talent is closer than I was picturing and KU has plenty of experience.

Either way, fun to watch.

Kentucky is a team that can improve as the season goes on. I think Kansas is a far better team right now. Duke and MSU are a little closer, which should make an exciting game.

cool...my comment dont know how it did it 2x, but was refernce to saying ku and duke have had creampuffs, but uk has played slightly tougher...just saying that duke and uk have had a common opponent thus far...thats all.......im expecting duke and kansas...we will see

Does it seem like these same teams are in the Champions Classic every year? Different matchups but mostly the same teams.

Kansas will roll. I think MSU wins close tonight. If the game was in March I would go with Duke.

yes...same concept of the tourney that unc/ucla/kentucky/ohio state are in....well not actually tourney as these are single game competitions

I wish we were playing Kentucky this year. Definitely a more exciting matchup than Ohio State.
Exciting, yes. But until we see how good our bigs are, maybe a tad too exciting. I don't usually want to play it safe, but this schedule is already challenging enough.

I love that the Heels have a tough schedule. It means the team will be battle-tested when tournament time comes around.

Kentucky is playing 5 freshmen while Kansas has invaluable senior leadership and experience; that is usually the difference in early season games. The first two games played by UK also suggest they are not a top 10 team this early in the year. Conclusion: Kansas beats Kentucky:

With a 10-1 record against him, Coach K is almost (not quite) as dominant against Izzo as Roy. Conclusion: Dook beats Michigan State.

Duke and Michigan State should be a battle. It Duke wins, this may clinch a #1 seed. Yep, this early in the season.

Kentucky will lose at least 8-9 games this year.

If they are playing in the same arena maybe McTrippy will assault a wildcat this afternoon and a huge fight will break out between the two leading to a year long suspension for both teams.

It is impossible for me to pull for dook. I am a huge MSU fan tonight!

K would have the dook suspension reduced to indefinite, which means only 1 game.

Am I the only one that noticed that the Dook play stepped in bounds before he passed the ball in?

Horrendous and late foul call there, but Duke was down 3 so I guess they needed it

Duke getting away with going over the back on the offensive boards. No surprise there

I'm so over the punk duke managers. Putting up towels around Bagley and the in front of the camera. Maybe we would be better served if the put it under K so it would catch all of his crying.
