Of course it doesn't mean anything to UNC but the reality that the Huskies have the first game on their home court and won’t have to leave the state until potentially heading to Dallas for the national semifinals makes me think this is totally unfair to the other top seeds that don't get any advantage like this. Imagine if this happened in the Men's tournament. Their would be outrage around the country. As if UConn needs any advantage. Just doesn't make sense from any point of view.

Its women's college hoops, so I care little. But don't almost all the higher seed teams play close to home? And isn't basically every game on one of the team's home courts until the Final Four? Kind of like the NIT? I mean its not like massive swaths of a fan base are going to invest the money to travel to watch college women play. Its just not a big enough draw, not large enough interest or attention compared to the men's game. Like less than 5% of the interest / fandom for the women's tourney vs. mens.

Yes it is unfair but you do realize that the top four seeds in each region (except Standford) are all playing on their homecourts in the first two rounds of the tournament?

Not much of a follower of the women's game, but if that is true then I would be pissed if I was Stanford. I read the reason they are not near home is a conflict of an event in their home.

(And I promise this will be the last post I ever do on women's basketball)

Why be pissed. Syracuse can only complain to their own venue, maybe even their own venue has lost respect for SU bball after Grumpy Smurf's rant! The teams work all year and earn the home game! I wish the men would do this. Reward the 3rd seeds with 1-2 regional games; the 2nd with 1 home game and 1-2 regional; and the 1 with 2 home games and a regional or two! If you don't want them to get the advantage, simply beat them for the seed! I would love for UNC to have 2 DES games and for puke to lose on their own court!

They could play those games in the opposing coaches driveway and it wouldnot matter!

Women's basketball sucks.
