UNC at UVA: Game 2 Thread (UVA wins 3-1)

Virginia leads 1-0 in the middle of the 3rd. Heels have stranded 7 men through the first three innings: 2 in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd, and 2 more in the 3rd. Brutal. The Cavaliers got a sacrifice in the 1st inning to score the run.

Ouch. Benton Moss gives up a 4-pitch walk to start the bottom of the 3rd, followed by a 2-run homer. Cavs now lead 3-0.

Carolina gets out of the inning but now trails 3-0. The announcers just said UVA has only surrendered more than 3 runs 5 times this season. That's a heck of a stat, and it doesn't bode well for UNC.

Korey Dunbar opens the 4th inning with a base hit single. He had struck out in all 5 of his previous plate appearances of the series.

Dammit. Wood Myers hits into a 3-6-1 double play. Virginia's defense is really, really good. 2 more LOB.

Carolina trails 3-0, middle of the 4th.

Moss bookends the inning with a couple strikeouts and the score remains 3-0.

Heels open the 5th with back-to-back singles. 2 on, no outs, and there's action in the UVA bullpen.

Sac bunt puts 2 men in scoring position with 1 out.

Parks Jordan with the short hopper to 1st base for the 2nd out, but it scores a run. Heels trail 3-1 with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs here in the 5th.

3 up 3 down for the Cavs and we're headed to the 6th inning with the Heels trailing by 2.

RH I just got in and flipped it on man we are struggling again. I haven't been able to watch it but I would say that just looking at the hits (9 for heels and 2 for hoos) we must not be playing very fundamental ball again. wow just heard we have left 9 on base just can't get that key hit it sounds like too.

Zach Daily with a 1-out double here in the 6th. He's now batting over .500 in conference play.

Top of the order coming up for UNC. Another opportunity....

Bone-headed play by Daily leads to a 5-3-6 double play. He didn't really have the time to advance but he tried anyway. Ugh.

Middle of the 6th and the Heels are down 3-1.

He's had a solid day. UVA just capitalized with a couple of big hits. Very efficient team.

Virginia just doesn't make mistakes. Heels haven't played badly so far this series. We've had men on but UVA forces you to grind it out and our offense just isn't able to do that.
