On the 2-point conversion attempt

“We were trying to get the guy in the flat, he wasn’t there, I kept going through my progressions and the guy tackled me.”

On the process leading to him making a decision about his future

“I’m not going to think about it for a couple of days. Go home, relax, hang out with my family, and I’m just going to do whatever my heart tells me to do. I’m going to pray about it and whatever I feel is right is what I’m going to do.”

Ryan Switzer...

On the sting for the seniors

“The season didn’t turn out how we wanted it to, but I think I speak for everyone on this stage when I say none of us would trade this experience for anything. I wouldn’t be here in the position I am without coach Fedora and the University of North Carolina, so hopefully we set a foundation for the young bucks coming back to continue to get this program where it should be.”

On the difference two years after that locker room issues following the loss to Rutgers in Detroit and now in the locker room, despite the loss

“I can tell you it’s not effort and attitude like it used to be. It’s been night and day since my sophomore year… As long as this man (Fedora) is here and the coaches are here, this program will go in the right direction and continue to recruit guys with great character, great abilities. I’m just fortunate enough to be a part of it and playing my last game with these dudes.”

On putting perspective into his record-setting career

Coming into my freshman year it was a nightmare learning the offense and learning the nuances of being a wide receiver, learning what it takes to play wide receiver at the college level. I accomplished all of that (and) it wasn’t a single-person effort, I can tell you that. Coach Fedora and Coach Brewer could have easily thrown me aside but they continued to stay on me. Even with the 12 practices we had for the bowl game I’m a better receiver in 12 practices and that’s a testament to them. I didn’t have a great year, it was no coincidence. They worked with me all year. The guy to my left (Trubisky) looked for me all year, he had faith in me. Sometimes he threw me the ball and the touch wasn’t on there but I’m not complaining (everyone was smiling). I’m proud of him and I’m really thankful I got this opportunity to play with him… I’m proud of all the guys, the senior class.”

Naz Jones...

On his time at Carolina and his career ending with some losses

“It sucks losing at the end of the season because we prepare so hard to make sure that doesn’t happen. But it always goes back to execution, and like Ryan said, these young guys have to learn from our mistakes so they don’t go out the same way we did.”
