UNC receives NOA...

What will the people at ESPN talk about now or the knuckleheads at WRAL . Probably will see alot of sports announcers and writters go on unscheduled vacations so they can have some personal time to get their heads out of the butts...

How are their failure to cooperate charges on there when both named did cooperate in investigations later on and Duke had their entire program refuse to cooperate and didn't get charged with it?

And both lost their jobs to boot. UNC can't force them to cooperate. The LOIC is what worries me the most, well that and the arbitrariness of the NCAA. There is no consistency to their rulings. Just look at how differently identical situations were handled at UMass and d00k.

You are right Archer. The NCAA is completely random, which is the most troublesome part from here on out.

To me, I think the real fight is the next phase. We have to present our case as to where they are wrong. If they agree with UNC, great. If not, litigation has to take place at this point- not after the COI meets and issues ruling. However, I'm not even sure if we will have any chance of relief- bylaws may prohibit.

If we wait until after penalties to try to fight this bs, we are going to get hosed.

I think Bubba may be the key to all of this. IF he handles it like the SEC schools handle EVERYTHING that the NCAA throws their way, we will be fine. The NCAA pretty much throws everything they can at a school in the NOA wanting to see what the school will do. If they roll over, they get hammered. If they do like the SEC does and fight it and show they are willing to call the NCAA out and force them to show what they have, the NCAA rolls over.

I think what UNC needs to do is pretty much force them to show how someone not employed by the University not cooperating with them is on us and point out in detail how other schools (Dook and everyone else who failed to cooperate) did the same thing and what the NCAA didn't do to them. Tell them we fully expect the same treatment there. Same with every other fishy part of this.

As for the LOIC, they need to admit that it WAS a LOIC, but not with athletics but academics, which the NCAA can't do jack about. If they want to show how the athletics program steered kids to those programs then they might have some standing, especially with women's basketball, but that is about it. And since other students also had access to those classes and more than half of those taking them were non-athletes, the NCAA can go pound sand.

Frankly, I am not too worried with this, even with the NCAA being so weird W/R/T penalties. They will be under pressure to hammer us but I think they know they are on thin ice with this because it was academic and not athletic. I think they can and will nail women's basketball and I don't see Hatchell being able to stick around. I wouldn't put it past them to even give women's basketball close to a "death penalty" type of ruling. Football I think is pretty safe. Nothing new there and they have already been hit hard, so there isn't really much there. I think the men's basketball team is pretty safe too. I could see a loss in scholarships for a couple of years being about all they could realistically get away with. And I have always said that UNC will not do much for any sports program at the school EXCEPT for men's basketball. IF they are stupid enough to try to go after wins and a banner you can bet every lawyer we have had come through the school will scramble to go after the NCAA. Ans since the NCAA is already running scared over all the other crap they have going on I doubt they want UNC asking them to open their books on how and why they issued ruling over the last 40 years.

Of course I could be completely wrong and they may hammer us. Either way I am just ready for it to be done. Make a ruling, hammer out the details and let's get on with life.

i am hoping the NCAA goes away. permanently. this drift net and delay tactic to try and intimidate and hurt UNC just because we started the realigment is as bad as FIFA.. .and the little wheat and corn heads who run the NCAA are as corrupt and greedy after their own fashion. hoping the power conferences just leave along with some sponsors and let's get those good-ole-boy traditional back room weasels out of college sports. jmho

This exemplifies why you are one of my favorite posters. Well said.
