UNC To Return To Carmichael...

I hope they put the score boards in the corner as well.

This really should be an every year event for 1 or 2 games, especially those that are not expected to bring in a full crowd to the Smith Center. Playing in Carmichael is a tradition that should be celebrated and enjoyed by the present student body. Hopefully, those in charge will make this a priority rather than a necessity.

This brings back some serious childhood nostalgia! I understand the $$$ issue, but I too hope they expand the number of games they play in this sacred venue! Hopefully, this will be such a grand time that they will do it every year!

I would love for us to play one game a year in Carmichael and I would love for our oponent to be dook. I know that this would never happen but I think it would be lots of fun. I have to say that I was disappointed years ago when the Dean Dome was built that our ongoing games we stopped using the corner scoreboard. I loved watching games and seeing that. It was a Carolina thing. Yep, I do miss it

Especially since back in the day you didn’t have the score on the screen at all times like we do today. Oh the memories!!!

Hopefully on this return visit to the old stomping grounds we don't break out the silver bullet uniforms that broke out one night in that building. They were hideous.

I remember those uniforms, but Carolina wore those at the Smith Center against Florida State in 2010. They were meant to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Jordan sneakers.

For some reason I thought those were in Carmichael. My bad I suppose. But to be honest, playing in Charmichael these days I guess is sort of nostalgic, but the place has been remodeled to the point that it really doesn't seem like the same place anymore.

Later that season, due to renovations to the Smith Center, Carolina's first round NIT game against William & Mary was in Carmichael, and the Heels wore the '57 throwbacks that night.

The place only holds a little over 6,000 since they renovated. It'll be great for those that get tickets but that's a huge loss especially for Wofford.

So it was 10,000 some odd in the old days, a renovation reduced the seating capacity, great.

Jimmy V was a hoot! He loved to needle more "uptight/reserved" coaches like DES and ratty! The "last basket" thing was typical Valvano and made UNC staff just shake their heads! (some fans have been pissy about this for years, lol!)

I know there have been talks between us fans over the years about wanting to have a regular season game in Carmichael and it is awesome that it was able to all come together for one this year. It is going to be a really cool environment in a building with so much great history and amazing memories.

I really wish that I would be able to make it for the game, but since I can’t, I am looking forward to hearing stories from all of you that attend. I am also particularly looking forward to the press coverage and media stories leading up to and following the game as it will definitely be a special one to chronicle.

Not bad. Last i checked no tickets were available via Stubhub. I'm planning to go but we shall see.
They haven't gone on sale yet. Rams Club members can place a request on Monday. Not sure how long it will be before the general public can buy them.
