UNC vs Boston College - Tuesday 9 Feb 2016

I'm just looking at stats, mainly. Shot over 50%. Didn't let them shoot a crazy % 40%. Outrebounded them. Didn't have an insane bad amount of TOs. had more steals, more assists, shot about the same % from 3.....shot OK from the FT line....

I know the stats are lying compared to how we looked (I'll assume) but it sounds like what also kept it close was the very erratic, inconsistent way fouls were called. What could we do about that? That does have some impact on how players approach the game. I'm sure the funky lineups didn't help either. Where would we have been without a big game from JJ? And who could've expected to say that, this morning?
Justin Jackson looked insanely good tonight. Berry and Paige certainly didn't have their best game, but came up with some big shots late. Our front line was very ineffective, but there were something like 6 charges called on us.

not sure if I can remember a team where everyone went into a funk around the same time

That's good.

This win looks worse than any loss we've had this year.

slinger you are wrong there, sorry my friend

Y'all might have misunderstood. Of course a win is always better than a loss. But I said this win "looks worse than any of our losses". And it did. We looked worse in last night's game against a bad team than we looked in our losses to decent/good teams. I'm not talking about the outcome. Because honestly, we should be able to bring our C- game and win fairly easily against BC. They're that bad.

We sucked last night. So bad that I was almost rooting for BC. Just awful. It starts with Roy. I am perplexed and incensed about the way he is managing our line ups and substitution patterns. Baffling! Also, his inability to prepare the team was evident. Guys were mishandling balls, dropping passes, and just looked generally disinterested. That's on Roy. Cory Alexander (calling the game) said he noticed in warm ups that guys were not focused. WTF, man? That is unacceptable at this point in the season.

I'm trying really hard to not allow my feelings about the lack of preparation in the last few games to dampen my outlook for the rest of the season, but it's difficult. We have 4 days to get our shit together. We should not struggle to win any of the next 3 games because they are all at home - I don't give a damn who we're playing. We will have more talent and experience than those teams. The only way we struggle is if the team is unprepared or disinterested. This is it...now is the time to get our asses in gear if we want to make anything of this season.

I didn't see the game either and I agree with what you see in the box score, the problem I see in the box score is that we just didn't get as many shots up as we need to and we got very little from the foul line.

I see folk talking about our bad defense but they only scored 61points on us, I struggle to understand how 61pts scored indicates bad defense? We scored 65pts, clearly that was not good offense from us, the problem is offensive more than defensive and that is not just true for this game I did not see vs BC, it for sure was the problem vs Lville and ND. FSU scored well over 80 on us but we scored 107 on them. WE had 12 TOs last night, that isn't awful, actually that isn't really bad. Not keeping Clifford off the boards was a problem I see, seems like our leaving early for the NBA center got torched, his 3pts on offense not good at all.

Due to a death in the family and being sick for 3 days, I just started paying attention to what's been going on this week so I'm a little late to this conversation.

Justin Jackson looked insanely good against BC???? Well now that's something to be excited about. You mean our hyped 2nd year player finally played a good game? Against a really bad team? That will surely carry us to the Final Four now.

The fact is that we beat a bad team by 3. Another unimpressive road game. The NCAA games are not true road games, but they are not home game neither. We only play well at home. Anything outside of our homecourt and we are just another team. My confidence in this team is very low.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not), but we've played 4 neutral site games this year, and are 4-0 in those games, winning all 4 by double digits. Two of them were much closer to the opposing team's location.

Temple (in Annapolis): W 91-67
Northwestern: W 80-69
Kansas State (in Kansas City): W 80-70
UCLA: W 89-76

While I agree we don't play well on the road, luckily the NCAA tourney games are neutral site. In those games, contrary to your misstated post above, we've played pretty well.

Hark. Good points.
Also - won in gutty effort in Syracuse - Boheim's first game back - crowd had all day to get super juiced and jacked
Won by 16 at a good FSU team
Won by 5 at VT, where UVA lost.

So we lost two games at the wire on the road in the ACC. Games we should've won, and had in hand. But what other team has been better (not just as good as - but better) on the road in the ACC or nationally. Here's help on who you CAN'T say:
OU, KU, UK, MSU, WVU, Iowa, UVA, Duke, Louisville,

You certainly are right about those four neutral games, but they were so long ago I'm legitimately concerned about where we can go as a ball club to date. Hopefully these guys figure it out soon.
