Well, Cam and Kenny are now carrying the Heels....Luke and Joel struggling to get anything going. Talk about flipping the script.
Neither team playing defense gonna have to out score them looks like. And of course a bench player is already having a career night against us smh

We can call out individual things... Reality is we need a SIGNIFICANT advantage from 3 to win. Duke is shooting 45% from 3 and have made only 2 less than us. Still allowing too many 3 point shots. Duke's going to dominate the paint anyway. Our advantage has to be big from the outside and it hasn't been.

Not great b-ball IQ by Kenny. I know he's on fire, but if he brings the ball out, we could've gotten a 2 for 1. Big last defensive possession coming.
Hell of an effort by our buys. If we can find a way to play no more than Books and Manley off the bench, we'll have a shot at this.

Looks like the blue,print to possible win was started with 5 minutes to go when UNC started driving instead of relying totally on 3 pointers.
First half went essentially as I would've expected it to. This game was either gonna be close for the duration or a dook blowout. Only way UNC was going to blow the dookies off the court was going to be making 15-20 3's on about 50% shooting. I'll take that first half, but gonna have to do a better job denying the post in the second half. While the post defender is responsible primarily, the entry defender can also sway the post entry. Our guys simply aren't doing a great job of denying the entry pass (nothing out of the norm for this season). Gonna have to find a way to keep Bagley and Carter from eating their lunch in the 2nd half. A zone could definitely help that. I know Roy doesn't like a zone because of rebounding.....but the Heels aren't rebounding anyway. Why not give it a run.
Seems like more the way he has been all over the court.
I think defensively we have been doing a pretty good job of making them work for shots, but we just don’t have anyone who can D up their big guys.
Weird, too, because it is usually dook who lives by the three and we have the big guys, but this year it is the opposite.
Anyway, I think we played better than I was expecting given how we have played the last few games, Pitt notwithstanding. Bigger question is can we adjust in the second half to slow down their inside game and can JB and Luke get it going offensively. Would love to see then get hot and Kenny finding a way to play both halves with his stroke.
Yeah I agree with that. I think Joel needs to attack the rack more in the second half. if nothing else it collapses the defense for open looks at 3. Duval isn't going to keep Joel out of the paint. I just wonder if the lack of driving is a conscious effort to conserve energy.
I will miss Theo as much as any Heel ever. Does every little thing. Rebounds well, great passer, our best defender, even against Big men and most importantly, his attitude is infectious.
