UNC vs Gardner-Webb Official Game Thread

This team has been underwhelming so far....
Anyone coaching these guys on offense? We could barely get in the paint, little ball movement, force ups... From a bunch of juniors and seniors? Not a good three game stretch.
I'm just glad somebody can pull down 10 rebounds. A bit surprised who it was, though.
Lot of people said we were overrated and got hot at the right time last year. It’s looking like we’re closer to the regular season team from last year than the post season team. We’re nowhere near the number 1 team in the country.
correct. no continuity or flow on offense. i know you have to take the good with the bad at times with a player like Love but he will flat out shoot you out of a game or out of a lead like tonight in no time. need bacot and nance to assert themselves inside. just need to be better in all phases.
Yeap 17 points in the second half and lead us in assist…..ok focus brother….you blaming the one person that shot us into a lead…..he only took five shots in the first half….the problem as you correctly alluded to is Bacot and Nance on the boards….so far we just don’t have the rebounding advantage. I think Bacot is out of shape…..he usually will dominate a team like this….RJ didn’t shoot well also.
He was the difference last year. Plain and simple. He’s one of those players who only needed to dribble 10 times, yet still score 20 and be the most impactful offensive player. Those players are infinitely valuable.
It’s really early but keep a close eye on Caleb 3 efficiency. I wondered throughout the offseason if the 37% he shot last year was real or if he’s more of a 30% shooter who had an anomaly season. This team will struggle to score if he isn’t a 35+ 3-point shooter.
Good to see Nance knock down a few.
But this team, like last year’s team, will go as far as Caleb Love takes them. Maybe more than last year’s team without Manek.
Probably somewhere in between. Probably better than an 8/9 seed this year. Not really a legit one seed.
KenPom and Sagarin have them the teens. So probably around a 4 seed in reality.
Honestly, I would he pleasantly surprised if they were a 3 or 4 seed without Manek. But I probably valued Manek more than most. I think he was really freaking important and those kinds of dudes are hard to replace.

RJ looks like he is out to prove he should be famous
Love has another really good 6-8 minute stretch… but shows no consistency
Nance and Black carrying the offense is not something that should need to happen
I like Trimble’s defense when he isn’t doing freshman things…
I like who we will be eventually on defense… but we stink right now on both sides of the ball. There is more hope for our defense then our offense based on what I have seen.
We are going to get murdered by someone soon… like 20+ point beat down
We trapped a couple times on defense (hey, new things)
We pushed the tempo a couple times (& made poor choices during most of those)

Well one thing is consistent this year - the early angst, bitching and doom & gloom from the fan base. Other than making “you” feel better by bitching on this board, there’s just no good from worrying so much about it. Makes for a really long season. We won, which tells me the team does just enough right now to win and is still just finding their early mojo - have yet to get motivated early. It’ll get addressed.
Don’t worry. Love will lead the way…… we just have to Let Love in our hearts
Well if having the #1 ranking on our backs is making us lose focus, we won't have to worry about that much longer if Gonzaga wins tonight. They will take over the #1 spot on Monday with our sloppy play through the first 3 games. So they won't be able to use that excuse any more.
