UNC vs NC STATE GAME THREAD

You are not watching the game then.
I watched when berry left whitey open by collapsing on an inbound and then we sagged off freeman the very next play - 6 point lead down to zero. Then we switched to just giving Johnson space 1 on 1 while he was hot

Cam can shoot the lights out when left open, but I am still trying to figure out if he can do anything else. Pretty much a one trick pony
He's very good with the short pass to a cutter or dumping after a drive.
Only problem is, there are so few plays called like this during the game.... way too much walking down to a half-court set where everyone stands around waiting for Luke to do something or for JB to miss a three.

Had these Kids had the green Light to call a Time out then Manley would have positioned himself for that..... Its beat in their heads to not call Time outs so that element of the game is lost...

After playing for the Title the last 2 years and winning last year I am fine with a rebuilding year...

Can’t expect to play for a title every year, but don’t think a program with the pedigree of a UNC should ever have a rebuilding year. Just lost to two unranked teams this week. Imagine UNC will join them in that category before long. That shouldn’t happen

He wasn't gonna call that timeout no matter what. He is a freshman center.

without that option sure, but you are suggesting you don't grow a brain to call a time out while falling out of bounds until you are a Sophomore
Do you not remember being 10 years old on the playground calling timeouts in fictitious situations, or in junior high or High school? Sorry not buying it..

Roy’s mishandling of Felton is bizarre. We are watching Berry barely pick himself off the floor and completely exhausted while a perfectly capable replacement sits on the bench.
Maybe, just maybe there is a reason that the general public doesn’t know about

My 13 year old asked why he didn’t call a time out.... he’s in the 7th grade.

Yeah I'm with him, just taking it and chunking it opposed to a time out is hard to believe he did that without having I'm not allowed to call timeouts on his mind..

Have you seen our ending stretch?
True, it's brutal. And we just lost one of the easy ones.

We catch a break @ Clemson because of Grantham's injury. And we still have Pitt. But we can't even take those for granted.

Notre Dame is at home, and Bonzie is still out. But Farrell is back. So that could be hard.

The rest? Yikes!

If Roy plays JF more and we lose . . . well, I suspect we hear a different refrain from some here.

I confess I want to see Jalek get more PT, too. But when he isn't reliable and we end up losing, I'm not sure this was the game to play him.

If Roy was going to give him more burn, it should have been early.

Yeah - except that he hasn't shown himself to be a perfectly capable replacement.

He should be by now. Bu the isn't.

Hard to know how much of not being there now is on Felton and how much on Roy, but he really hasn't shown he can be relied upon in a tough game like this.

The sun shines on even the ugliest dogs ass every now and then. That’s the jest of states win today in the dome.

That being said. Here are the obvious takeaways from today’s game. Many of these a rinse and repeat of the whole damn year.

1. Joel is exhausted. Kid competes hard and we need him to play a ton but it’s catching up with him. We will lose every game he scores less than double digits.
2. Keates outcoached Roy severely today. State exploited Luke’s terrible ball screen defense over and over and over and over.
3. We have no post presence at all. Again, if our freshman duo of Manley and Brooks can’t at least combine for a double double, we will lose every time. Today they combined for 9 points and 1 rebound.
4. Our 3 point defensive strategy is behind the times. Say all the dumb shit you want about high percentage shots 3 vs 2. But a wide open 3 is a higher percentage shot than a contested layup at this point. State hit 15 threes. That makes an average team damn near impossible to beat most games.

Hate the outcome but we played hard. Effort is still there which is encouraging. We just need to get some rest and get back on track. We have to win the games we are supposed to win down the stretch in the league and maybe steal a game or 2 somewhere.

Disagree. If he can simply dribble the ball across half court, that is enough to give Berry a couple extra minutes a game to rest. Berry is completely exhausted and we have 8 more games. I’ve seen Enough of Felton to know he can give 8 minutes per game.

Heels05, I agree with your sentiment in hopes of getting Joel a break because he needs it. However, Felton has struggled substantially to the point that we are like -75 with him on the floor year to date. It’s one thing to say he’s had some freshman struggles but the more accurate statement is simply that he’s been awful. You can’t even highlight his effort or defense he’s been so bad. Unfortunately we have zero depth and the drop off is astounding once you take Joel out. Lose lose situation Roy is in.

Is it just me or does it seem like something happened to this teams chemistry after Johnson got back from injury. This team was clicking before Cam but once he came back, everyone started to seem off a bit.
