UNC vs Notre Dame on Saturday 14 March 2014

Well, 10 points isn't an impossible deficit, but the way we are playing defense it might be. We can't seem to stop them. Don't know if it is fatigue from all these games or what, but I hope they can find something down deep and get some stops.

Nice foul on Grant! That is one way to do it!

Choke city. Right where we've played waaaaaayyyyy too many times this year. This team chokes more than any team in our history, I think.

I am very glad about 1 thing tonight: this epic collapse was not against that team from Durham.

No, but we had a ton of lazy/stupid turnovers- worse than usual. I think that is mental fatigue.

Yep.

This is one reason I don't think you'll see a team ever win four straight games to Win the ACC tourney. Teams don't play too many back to back games during the season and then you are supposed to win 4 games in 4 days. Don't see it happening. Heels gave in a good shot for 30+ minutes.

This team will always be remembered for their ability to choke games away. I can't remember the last unc team that was so skilled at choking.

Yep. Blame this on regular season apathy shown from time to time this year

Big difference between playing tired and playing stupid
When you play tired you do play stupid. Mind goes as well as the legs. Pretty obvious

This choking started against Iowa state last year and carried over into this season!!..wonder what next year holds with the same team returning!!

Give these guys credit...
They beat a #1 seed last night after winning 2 games, in 2 days and they played hard tonight, but they gave out and made some bad mistakes at bad times.

Notre Dame is a very good team... that's why they're #11

We would have had to beat 3 Top 20 teams in 3 days. I'm not embarrassed by these guys at all. I'm proud of them in spite of the bad plays.

Really against providence - they just let us off the hook. But the complete lack of defense against guards goes back much further

Well that was a bitch! Although not unexpected with having to play 4 in 4. If we didn't forget to play how to play basketball for about 6 minutes in the 2nd half, we win this game. Still shaking my head over this one. Just don't understand it.

Don't know why anyone is overly surprised. ND is an excellent 3 point shooting team and we have NEVER guarded the 3 well. Deans teams didn't guard it well. We played more games and, frankly, we have no one outside of Paige who has that killer instinct that our best teams had in a couple of guys.

Tokoto has the skills, but he seems so afraid to shoot it he is a liability late in games. Jackson may be one day, but he isn't there yet. Same with Berry. Meeks just isn't that guy. Brice can be and has shown flashes.

Yes this was a collapse when we had them on the ropes, but it isn't like ND is some pushover either. And, frankly, I would rather lose it to them than dook any day.

Time to see where we go next week. I think this team is capable of a deep run, but I am not sure they have what it takes mentally to go but so far. We shall see.

I hate that the refs have been so bad this year, but I am not sure we would have won this one had they been any better. I still say the calls against us when we were rolling made a big difference but I am not sure the way we finished that it would have mattered. You don't let a team go on a 20+oint run and win very often and I am not sure we could have pulled this one out either way.

Congrats to ND and best of luck to them in the NCAA's.

I agree- this is the most focus they have played with all year. Gives hope for the tourney, but this team hasnt exactly been a model of sustained anything this season.

13 turnovers in like 6 min. Game over. Notre Same scored on 11 straight positons.

an ENDLESS parade of touch fouls and pathetic calls just kept them in the game in the second half. Like I said in another thread I normally do not complain about officiating... this game was an embarrassment...... these officials were pathetic and just as bad I have seen in 40 years of watching Carolina Ball .

I did not think it was possible to have a team get MORE favorable treatment by the officials, until tonight.

Please no comment's, we are better than this, officials do not cost us the game blah blah blah

WATCH the replay in that stretch of about 8-minutes in the second half EVERY possession of their was a foulf EVERY ONE.... come on open your eyes and see how bad that is. Just an embarrassment

When someone drives and you slap at the ball they are going to call a foul every time.

Not to make excuses here, but why is that the tournament can't start a day earlier and have a day off prior to the final? I like the final on Saturday rather than Sunday, but start the tournament a day earlier and give the teams a day off.

Who wants to stay an extra night in Greensboro for any reason?

Yea probably better to have the championship on Sunday. Given Saturday to rest?

By that logic we should have been shooting some free throws too. Why wasn't it a foul when they reached?

You are a 100% correct. The ACC did not want UNC to win this. They did the same bullcrap against UVA, but UNC was able to overcome. 32 to 7 in free throw shoorting. UNC took 7 freaking free throws. UNC should really consider leaving the ACC. John Swofford is a sham. Maybe UNC loses anyways with their tired legs, but they would have been up 20 instead of 9 if the refs had called the game consistently.
