TAR HEELS TO PLAY MICHIGAN IN ACC-BIG TEN CHALLENGE

First meeting between schools since 1993 national championship game

CHAPEL HILL – Defending national champion North Carolina will play host to the University of Michigan in the 2017 ACC-Big Ten Challenge, the first time the Tar Heels and Wolverines have played each other since the 1993 NCAA title game in New Orleans.

ESPN will announce the date and time of the game later.

UNC and Michigan will be playing for only the sixth time when the teams meet at the Smith Center in late November. The Tar Heels are 3-2 against the Wolverines, including a 77-71 win on April 5, 1993, in the Superdome to win UNC’’s third and Coach Dean Smith’s second NCAA championship.
