I sure hope he’s right. His point about UNC always losing a couple of head scratchers is a valid one. Can we avoid that this year? Can we replace enough of the lost production at RB and WR to be in the ACCTG hunt? We shall see.

“Wide receiver Beau Corrales (lower body) will be limited to start training camp on Thursday, while center Brian Anderson (lower body) and cornerback Storm Duck (upper body) will not be available at the start of camp. All three are expected to participate as camp progresses and be ready for the season opener at Virginia Tech.”
Hopefully, we will enter the season healthy. We need all three of those guys badly.

He didn’t forget it, he wouldn’t have been so optimistic about our upcoming season if he hadn’t taken that into account.
Uncle Lou doesn't sound very convincing, except for the part about bonehead losses. I think the Heels lose 4 games this season.
I am excited to see how our defense plays now that we have depth behind our starters. That could take a ton of pressure off our offense, so maybe they don't have to score 30+ to win a game. What has been so hard to watch over the last few years is we would have the game in hand, have the other team down to 3rd or even 4th and long and give up the big play to allow a 1st down, we wore down in the 4th qtr. But it looks like we have the depth, especially in the trenches to flip that around now, can't wait to see if they can! Can we run the ball at least enough to not have the opposing defense be able to pin their ears back and pressure Sam? Short passes to Walson can help us there if we can not get the running game going.
I never understood it.
A team that lost 10 games the past two seasons & lost two best RBs, two best WRs, and best defensive player, were going to be a top 10 team?

losing those great receivers hurt just as much as the rbs. they had developed a great chemistry with sam and they fought hard and grabbed those 50/50 balls, which we didn't see yesterday.
There was no indication that the o line would be absolute garbage. With decent pass protection there should still be enough talent at WR for Sam to go off. Same situation with the running game.
Combine that with the defensive talent Mack has brought in the past two years and on paper this should be a good football team.
The gap between #10 and 15-20 isn’t really that big. It’s the gap between the top 3 and everyone else that seems pretty much insurmountable. The problem is there are three programs with CEO type coaches who recruit even better than Mack does, and they also have the best coordinators in college football. We have an offensive coordinator who has turned what is a wrinkle for most offenses into his entire gameplan. And a defensive coordinator that can’t seem to put a decent scheme on the field until halftime.
If we had Sam another year, then the young defensive talent would be more experienced and there would be time to develop more threats for him to distribute the ball to. That would probably add up to a legitimate top 10 team. But for now we just have to hope that Drake ends up being even better than Sam and can build off whatever ‘momentum’ has been built with recruiting.
But if you can’t win the big ones, nothing else matters. At all.

Sam hasn't been the player he has been in the past, but he hasn't been so bad that you bench him. We'll never be able to recruit another good QB if you do that.
Unfortunately, Sam can’t play OL, WR, RB or defense. All of those groups have been a much bigger problem than Sam.
If they were to bench him, you mean? That would be committing qb recruitment suicide?
Actually I think he can play RB. He's been our best RB so far this year.

well Sam isn't going through his progressions at all, he's locked in to Downs almost exclusively, how long do you let that go on?
Sam doesn't have time to go to through them. There really isn't many to go through though. Longo's offense consist of throwing it deep or running it up the middle. I'm actually surprised there has been support for Longo on the board over the last couple of days. It's the first time I've seen him be defended.
Longo’s best friend this year has been Bateman. Our hyped up, talent rich defense has been hot garbage and that’s taken some of the focus off of our stagnant offense.
I think Sam is proving that he's mortal rather than amazing as a QB. He's going to have to do better given the playcalling and how we're being defended OR the playcalling needs to change from what we did last yr and every yr before under Longo.
His pocket is breaking down, but not instantly. Yes the OL is bad, but they weren't good last yr either - tons of sacks.
"Sam holds the ball too long" was a complaint last yr, it just seems a little worse this yr cuz we're not doing enough to overcome that persistent prob. We're not overcoming it partly because we're much easier to defend when you don't have Javonte/Carter breaking tackles, being more decisive or choosing better holes, and when you don't have Dyami / Dazz pressuring you away from the LOS.
