I agree with that sentiment. GM's are so afraid to miss that next big thing that they take swings at those unfinished products.Realizing how much stock the NBA puts in potential, I agree that Porter is very skilled but I wonder if he is closer to his ceiling or floor? If Porter is closer to his ceiling then potential seems to be less than a Ayton or a Bamba? Granted that potential is not always realized but the NBA does not always seem to realize that IMO.
For me, I think Porter's ceiling is a Grant Hill type. Not saying that he will be that good, but when discussing how close he is to his ceiling I think that's the type of player he could be. Regardless of where Hill went to college, no one can argue that he was a baaaddd man in the league before all of the injuries. If that's the ceiling we're looking at I'm not passing it up.
On the flip side of their ceiling, the floor on Porter is also extremely better. His "worst case scenario" isn't really that bad.
