I spoke with the grandfather of Vic Wharton III (that would be Vic Wharton Sr.), who is a football coach himself. He was in touch with Vic and Vic Jr., who visited UNC over the weekend. UNC is a major option right now. No commitment and he will soon choose between Cal, Utah and UNC. He's visiting Utah before that.
The main reason I get the impression UNC probably leads is Vic's major. He wants to go into communications and he was blown away by the number of UNC people in the media world. Academics are playing a major role here. His grandfather didn't say this but I got the impression he's weighing academics more heavily this time around as a "recruit," and all the UNC figures at ESPN and elsewhere are very big for him right now.
