He wasn't Nazair Jones level disruptive, and maybe not as stout as Aaron Crawford, but he's pretty good, and I'd bet he's still better than Kevin Hester, KBJ, Silver or anyone else lining up next to Myles Murphy. Hard to tell how things will play out PT-wise in this 4 man front with Shaw, Ritzie, Tomari, etc, and he was on a bad unit last yr, but I think the DL just got better.

Vohasek has been the best all around interior D lineman for us. He is not an All-ACC type, but he is the sound type who knows how to play his position and who occupies blockers. Because he does what he should, he must be blocked, and he often makes blockers stay with him. Blockers rarely can just hit him and move on to hit another UNC player and thereby maximize the odds of a big play against us. Vohasek makes blockers stay with him, which makes it easier for other UNC defenders to have a good shot to nail the ball carrier.

That is an extremely important skill for a DT to have. A DT doing that is worth a good deal even if he never gets a sack and rarely makes a tackle behind the LOS.

Outstanding post. Can't win without players like HOSSEK who do the dirty work!
