We are the best team in the country right now

I have said for a few weeks what Bilas said tonight. "UNC for now is the top team". He had UK 2nd and I am not certain we are there yet. This is the most athletic team and fastest in the Cal era. They fly in transition and defend aggressively. Mostly starting 4 freshmen and a sophomore, they still have a ways to go and to get some adversity to prepare them for March and possibly April.
UNC, Villanova, UK, Virginia, Indiana, Kansas, Oregon, UCLA and Duke and more. It seems as though there are several who can win it this year.
I don't think Giles would play if he was my son. I don't think Calipari would allow him to play either. Top 1-3 pick regardless, why risk losing out on 15-20 mil minimum if he was to suffer another knee injury?
I look forward to our game and hope you win the ACC. Please feel free to destroy Duke and UL on the court.
I know how many feel about Cal and I know we have good and bad fans. Cal was such a huge supporter of Dean Smith, the man and the coach. He has spoken many times about the great civil rights work and just how brave Coach Smith was. Cal also got the word out and security would not allow any signs or chants aimed at Roy or the team during that NCAA ordeal. He has a ton of respect for UNC and genuinely likes Roy. Maybe that came from his beginnings with Coach Brown.
Best of luck folks, I hope I am not out of line to ask for prayers for the people in Tennessee with the fires still ongoing in many places.

Prayers for them as well as the people here in NC that are still suffering from our own fires.

With the level of play we are seeing in the post this year, nobody's frontcourt scares me. I think we can match up when anyone, including all the "beasts" we will soon face! Like what happened with all the PGs that are supposed to test JB, I know Meeks, Hicks, and TB won't back down from any opponents!

UNC may very well have an advantage in the paint. But our frontcourt is 6"11 255, 6"10 240, 6"8 235, and 6"8 230. We have a bigger and better frontcourt than we did in March.

After a quick look at your season stats looks like you only play 3 of those bigs for any meaningful minutes. Bryant and OG are very good, Morgan comes off your bench if Blackmon starts and that means you guys play a lot of small ball.

Big difference with us this season is how hard we are defending and especially in our back court. Okey st felt they could run with us, they used a lot of small ball to, didn't work. Whisky blew out Syracuse last night, we shut their hot shooting guard down and throttled their talented front court.

Look at our point distribution, we can hurt teams from every position on the court, there is not a position you can leave and help away from, you could at times last season. IU can beat us but to do so I think they are going to have to play their A game and hope we can bring no more than a C and Joel Berry does not allow many C games from us. If our bigs do not get in to early foul trouble and we don't run in to one of those off shooting nights then it could be a long night in Hoosville!

Bryant is very impressive. But then again, our boys ain't slouches either. :)

No doubt. We all know how good our guys are though. It should be fun to see how they measure up against their biggest test so far. I think they will do quite well. It probably all comes down to the three ball. If Blackmon and those guys hit a bunch it will be tough. If we can limit that I like UNC's chances.

If we are firing on all cylinders, and can limit their threes, I know we will win. It's the same deal as the NCAAT, everyone said Indiana would be the next team to beat us. I'm still not buying it.

I agree. We have a good frontcourt. But we aren't going to dominate the paint against you guys. Big Ten teams, sure.
The battle on the boards should be something to see. Limiting OR's leading to 2nd chance opportunities, and transition defense are keys for both teams. Also, limiting good looks from outside the arc.

I appreciate the respectful post. UK will be an absolute handful when we play them and I fully expect them to make a very deep run in the NCAA's. Great guard play will take a college team a very long way and you have that. Really looking forward to our matchup. But we have a tough game tonight in Assembly Hall before we can really think about the 'Cats.

Prayers for all the people whose lives are being affected by the wildfires in NC/TN/KY/GA...
If they were indeed arson, I think they should put the perpetrators in jail for life, if caught.
