Week #10 Contest Games . . 5 + 3

Believe me I’m not. I bet on Vtech.
I took Miami, but only because it was being played in Miami and J-Lo is at the game. But, I also know that VT is well-coached. Bud Foster is a beast. I think Mark Richt is another sizzle-no-steak coach.

28-10. Really impressed with how well Miami is playing tonight. It's a statement game for sure. Now they just have to close it out.

He will be less sizzle - more steak in the ACC. They are in the Driver's seat to be in the ACCCG in his first season, and Clemson's not invincible. Miami could end up winning the conference this year.

It's also fairly young team with a strong recruiting class coming in next year.

There was plenty of steak on him at UGA too. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand football.

The biggest criticism of his time at Georgia was that he was never able to win the "big" games. If Miami beats ND next week and possibly Clemson in the ACC Title game, that will definitely help silence the critics.

For sure. He won 6 division titles, 2 conference titles, and 9 bowl games. And the bowl games he was winning were a little bigger than the ****ing Belk bowl.

He got fired after a 9-3 season. There are some coaches out there who will keep their jobs after a 2-10 season this year. But he was fortunate that he didn't have a couple scholarship reductions while he was there, totally makes all the difference.

And he did all that while the SEC was the top conference. If a coach did that at UNC he would have his own statue and the stadium would be renamed after him.

Bullshit. Richt is all sizzle and no steak. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about. If he was all that, Georgia wouldn't have ever wised-up and cut his ass loose. Now, they're #1 in the country.

Whenever anyone follows-up any opinion with "anyone who thinks otherwise is (insulting term)"... I always feel inclined to obstruct, if only to refute the "if anyone thinks otherwise" ego-trip.

Richt's sizzle isn't close to Fedora's.

Fedora's steak isn't close to Richt's.

Coaches like Richt don't grow on trees, UNC has only had two in his league (Mack and Butch), I'd love to find another one like that at some point.
Fvck Richt and Fedora, too. Richt is where he needs to be- back home in Miami. Fedora is crap, too. Fedora won't ever sniff the vicinity of the area code of the success of Richt, and that's not saying much.

That 9-3 season was also Richt's 15th season Georgia. I think they just wanted a different voice after having the same person as head coach for so long. That decision has worked out well so far for both Georgia and Richt. Georgia is rolling with Kirby Smart, and Richt has Miami headed in the right direction.

Which coach would you rather have- Smart or Richt?

Richt is going to take Miami to the same heights as UGA... 2-3, or more, losses every year. That's Knute Rockne-famous if you're at UNC. But, it ain't cutting it at UGA.

He certainly won't. And I've come to terms with that. What bothers me is that people will make up excuse after excuse for him. It makes me feel like I'm delusional thinking that UNC can be a consistent contender, at least for the ACC, when there are people that are fine with the performance he's put out there.

I agree, Fedora has been a disappointment overall. Who would you like to see come here? We need someone who knows how to build up the program the right away, and someone who is committed to staying here long term who will not use the success he has here as a stepping stone for a better job.

I didn't think saying you didn't understand something when the evidence shows you don't understand it was an insult. If you want to say he didn't live up to the standard of UGA then that's fair, but to say he's just sizzle shows you don't have a clue.

Agreed that's what we need to find. I'm not up to speed on the coaching candidates out there, but fortunately we pay Bubba Cunningham to know that stuff.

I hate when people are hesitant to make a coaching change because they don't know who the perfect replacement would be. I'm of the belief that when you have someone you know doesn't work, you can roll the dice a bit to try to find someone who does. And honestly, I think I could coach this team to 2-10 for crying out loud.

I think Fedora will get another year considering all of the injuries this year. If the team is healthy next year, and the record doesn't improve, then he's probably gone.

To ME, he's mostly sizzle. To you, he may be a prized coach. UGA was on the receiving end of all of his accolades and wonderful triumphs, and they finally gave him the ax because he was always going to fall short.

ETA:

If Richt was at UNC and was delivering what he delivered at UGA, that would be awesome for UNC fans. But, Richt WANTS to be Saban-good, and Urban Meyer-good, or even Dabo-good, and he ain't ever going to be. He's not going to head coach a National Championship team.

It just seems like UNC is a stepping-stone program for football coaches. UNC is a basketball school. As I've said before, look at Kansas and Kentucky and, for the most part, Duke. They all suck in football. But, in March, they're the tets. Clemson, Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State... they're rarely in a NCAA Final Four discussion. The ACC is still the basketball conference. Obviously there's some nuance and subjectivity to that statement since FSU, Miami, and some others joined. But, for decades prior, Clemson was the only football powerhouse the ACC ever offered, and even they weren't perennials like the teams in the Big 10 and other football conferences.

And, miraculously scored 14 points in no time... and covered.

I think I went 7 and 1 this weekend.
