This is a HUGE commitment for the Heels due to the domino effect it may cause. Mike mentioned this in the other TB thread - we now have a legit center. Giles, Bam and Markkenan all now know that they won't be forced into duty at the 5. I think our chances increased exponentially with all 3 of those guys now.

It also sends the signal that what we've been hearing is most likely the case - the men's BB team is going to be safe from serious sanctions. And that too could open the door a little wider for the likes of Smith, Woods, Bridges and the others mentioned above.

Lastly, momentum is always a good thing. It will motivate those in the program and make people feel as if we're coming to the end of the rough patch. Whether that's true or not is insignificant. But Roy and the staff have to feel good about this, which in turn may relight the fire.

Welcome Tony. Glad to have you aboard. And thanks.

I really believe this is as BIG a Tar Heel commit as we have had in MANY years

Slinger outlines it well above and it DOES give us that MO

Roy and staff deserve MAJOR thanks and applause

I woke up this morning groggy as hell.

I'm wide awake and giddy after seeing this one! Welcome aboard Mr. Bradley!

Don't watch much about recruits until after they commit.

But from what I have been able to see and read, Tony Bradley seems have a game that isn't extremely flashy but unbelievably efficient and effective.

This usually makes for the type of players that I like the best.

6' 10" with a 7' 4" wingspan and fundamentals already with plenty of upside. Appears to have a stable influence at home.

Man, we are fortunate to get this guy regardless of any situation.

Congrats to Tony. I would guess that the decision has eased some stress for him and for UNC fans.

I know kids are worried about sanctions but it's great that somebody finally remembers that UNC is the greatest place to play basketball for the best coach in front of 20,000 passionate fans wearing Carolina Blue!

For those who have seen him would you say Tim Duncan should be his target to try to model his game after?

I want Bam Bam more than ever now.
In other breaking news, the 247sports Crystal Ball is proud to celebrate its first accurate prediction. Statement and celebratory dinner from 247sports to follow.

LOL . . good one.

That"s the 3rd or 4th time I've seen Tim Duncan's name mentioned in relation to Bradley. And I want to caution everyone. I know that y'all aren't saying he's "the next Tim Duncan". But still, I'd try to find a better comparison. Using Tim Duncan as the measuring stick makes me uneasy.

For me, I see Juwan Howard. And there ain't nothing wrong with that. I'd be over the moon if Bradley could develop into a Juwan Howard clone.

Agreed. I had kind of let go of him. But this has reinvigorated me on that front. I'm hoping it's done the same for Bam. My original projection for this class was Bradley, Bam, Markkanan and Woods. If that comes to fruition, it will be a top 3 class and puts us right back where we need to be. And then the idea of Dennis Smith coming makes me drool. I'm still a long way away from thinking that's a real possibility but I'm gaining on it.

slinger, I made that same point on 4Cs this morning, this does for sure impact decisions made by highly rated power forwards. I would suggest it may impact Bam more than Giles but both should look at this development.

When either Giles or Bam would be freshmen, we would have BOTH Meeks and Bradley as our centers, duke would have who, the kid that committed to them a couple months ago? You want to play the 4 and not the 5 and UNC has 2 solid guys to handle the 5 in your one and only frosh season while duke only has the one kid that may not even start and a well respected 4 that transferred to them (eligible this season). Brice graduating Mr Giles, think maybe you can beat out Hicks for that starting power forward role, you know that would be expected. DSJ isn't going to duke, they have Jackson now and Jackson is going on a Morman Mission, will that be in your one & only season at that school, will Thorton be gone to the NBA by the time you get there, you could be stranded playing the center on a team with no PG? That is a lot to risk for what you want Mr Giles and you don't really think UNC is going get a post season ban no matter how many times other coaches may hint about it, they wil say anything to get you yet UNC has now a wide open opportunity for ya! You better take it before Bam does cause Bam will know he has that same op you have.
