UNC was in reality eliminated a long time ago. At least we won't have to hear about him any more on here until he suits up for dook.
Go ahead and commit to the dukies already, no need to try to convince folks that Uga, GT, or Haavaaad have a realistic chance in this. It is almost insulting that this continues to be acted out like some drama you knew the answer to 5 mins in to the movie.

Evan Daniels and Eric Bossi both reporting that PJ Washington is leaning to UK now. Hope the visit this weekend changes things.
Some of the information I saw circulating around here was that UNC very much had a shot at Carter. Wonder if that notion will be conceded now that he has officially eliminated UNC - or if we'll need to wait til his official decision to get that concession.
This is correct. I tried saying this a month or so ago and was dismissed simply for being a Duke fan.
I have never seen or heard anything outside of this board that Carter was ever a UNC lean. The hated 247 crystal ball was 100% and never had any pick but dook going all the way back to 2014.
Agreed.....there was really only one person implying that UNC had a chance with Carter.
The experts in premi told us this thing wasn't going to happen for us years ago. I think it's hysterical that some posters in THR want us to believe their "inside information" over Clint/Rob, who regularly give us gold.
To be fair, activity from Roy stopped around that time. I think he had a visit around spring with him, nothing since. That's when it was brought up here I believe
The value of premium information is that you can avoid participating in threads on Radar when you have the facts already. It's a fruitless situation and not worth getting involved in the discussion. One of our insiders on premium is also pretty close to what is happening at Duke. When he says a player is leaning Duke you can take it to the bank. Carter was never interested in UNC. Both Carter and Trent are headed to Duke and possibly Bamba. I hate Duke more than any of you, but it is what it is. If all opt for Duke, than the Heels have a good chance at Knox.You didn't need a premi to know this one
Yes, Carter and Trent are likely headed to dook, and that likelihood has been the case for a good while now, but to say Carter was never interested in UNC is just a false statement.
Not the case at all Gary. I appreciate what you bring to the board and encourage you to continue what you do. I just choose not to participate in certain recruiting discussions when my view is the complete opposite of the discussion when I have Premium information to the contrary.
You are correct, he was interested but he was never serious about attending UNC. This kid has been a strong Duke lean for 2 years.

Sorry brother, that first quote was a reply to a dookie poster who's been scamming around here. His quote just didn't show up. That wasn't directed at you at all! (just edited it to make that clear).
And yeah, WC has been a dook lean for a while but remember, Roy was on him early and we had the advantage before the "junk". By the time the NCAA notice was amended it was too little too late, although we did get his attention again.
Not to try to revise history but I am not sure I recall anyone, including gary, ever saying we lead for cater, only that we were not out of it and were a contender. Now I shared, not from gary BTW, that a slight window did for us with him back when we got the updated NOA, a slight opening that closed very quickly thanks to Mr Capel. I get that there are a few folks that don't care for the way gary presents what he shares but I don't recall his saying anything other than we still had a chance with the kid, which by the way, I disagreed with and said so several times right here.
Nor do I Dave. Many were saying we were out of it and didn't stand a chance. Gary simply stated he felt we were still in the running. Technically speaking, until Carter actually eliminated us verbally, we were still in the running, albeit a very long shot by most of our estimations. This constant thread derailment is getting old.
Can the mods do something this guy? The only time he comes out of hiding is to stir the pot. Its getting old.
It is indeed, Arch. Some here apparently can't (or don't want to) handle nuance or get the ebb and flow of recruiting. @DSouthr put it nicely above, but then Dave gets it.
I started reporting on Carter early, before the NCAA junk hit the media fan, back when Roy was in good shape with him. The junk (and USA Basketball) gave Capel and K their opening and we were fighting an uphill battle from that point on, and I said as much. Hell, the reason Wendell even kept UNC in consideration after Capel poisoned the well was Roy's early relationship. Yes, (as Dave heard separately and I heard from someone close to Wendell) when the NOA was amended he took another look at us, and even continued to do so up thru a couple of weeks ago, but as I feared it was too little too late.
Honestly, Arch, I don't know what some find so hard to understand about that. It's the ebb and flow of big-time recruiting. That's the last I'm talking about it. If anyone is interested in reality I'll just refer them here.

You could do yourself a favor and think for yourself for once.
In any case, there was never any evidence to suggest we were in it at all for Carter. I've only had premium for a week, but there's no mention of Carter as a viable option on there. Even after the vindication of the NOA, I didn't believe we were in it.
I was skeptical of gary's little tidbits before, now I have even more of a reason to be.
I appreciate gary's tidbits and I suppose some don't. But I never really felt we had a shot with Carter to begin with, and when he mentioned that packaged deal with uncommitted closet-dookie Trent Jr., that was a done deal.
You know how I did that? There's an interesting thing most of you can do with your brain, called "thinking". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall gary telling us that Carter 'smells like UNC'. Or that we were even leading for him.
But what gets old is that every time he reports what he hears or even thinks, a certain group of posters appear like clockwork to derail threads and start bashing him or the people that want to hear the things he posts. Then start feigning victim when people make the same retorts and claim it's why "no one wants to come here anymore!!". And yet the very second post in this thread was already starting this bickering up again. LMAO!
Funny how I see some of you bashing gary for being wrong, yet valiantly defend 247 as an "source of info". gary's been wrong in the last 9 months since that 2nd thread post that 247 has in the past 2 weeks.
