What Happened to Shaka Smart?

I'd be willing to bet you can't find one post where @Archer2, @DSouthr or @gunslingerdick has said Roy is overrated. Seriously I'll bet you can't even find one.

So you can't read either. Hmm...

Go back and read what I said. Please quote where I mention the people you named. Surely my post was directly aimed at those specific people and no one else. Right?

Nice rock bro. Try not to be so sensitive next time.

You said the people saying Smart was overrated said Roy was too. Those three were saying he was overrated. Are you trying to say you meant people other than the people saying it in this thread? That would seem kinda odd that you would come to a thread where people were saying he was overrated, but were talking about other people. I'll give you that out if you want it though.

U would think this is a woman's message board with all the bitching and crying on here. Get it together fellas. I don't post a lot but I do read most everything. When u start reading 7 or 8 post back and then catch up there is a lot of unnecessary nagging.

Whoever replaces Roy when the time comes needs to have successful YEARS as a D1 high level coach. Hubert needs to get out on his own and get that done if he wants to truly qualify for the job, same as Roy did. Shaka has a number of positives, smart, young, charismatic, well-spoken, decent success at a lower level of D1 as an HC. But he still needs to prove he can win at a high rate in a tougher conference. He has that chance at Texas.

I don't understand what is being discussed if I don't catch up on previous posts. We are all here for our LOVE of the team that has the prettiest shade of blue. THE NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS. No need of all the bashing against each other. I have read on Pukes forum's and tho they do disagree with each other it doesn't seem as bad as on here.

How about Shaka's replacement at VCU? He has a Tar Heel connection. He isn't ready yet but 3-5 years down the road...maybe?

When Roy took over at KU, one of the most prominent high level D1 programs in the country, he had zero experience as a head coach. And to those who say that was 30 years ago or that it was 56 years ago that Dean did the same thing, I say that has no bearing whatsoever on Hubert today. If you can coach, you can coach. Period. Can Hubert coach? We don't know for sure. But I think we're going to find out because I think the plan is to have him replace Roy.

Maybe because they don't think he's overrated.
I sure don't. In fact, just the opposite.

We will have to disagree on this one. Hubert may be the plan, but if so, imo, it is a bad plan. Neither Doh with limited D1 HC experience, nor Gut, off the bench, worked out very well for us. Yes, Guthridge won a lot of games but recruiting tanked badly and helped set up the Doherty debacle. No thank you to either one of those approaches again. I don't mind at all when other programs roll the dice, but for us I hope we pursue and land a proven winner.

I know I know not the same but he does coach our JV team. So he does have some head coaching experience.

Mike, no disrespect intended to you, Hubert, or our JV team, but to me that is about like coaching a HS team at a large school. Not what I would consider D1 level at all.

Reality is, whoever runs the show when that time comes will do whatever they want to with zero input from me.
