I know the expectations for the big fella are high coming into the season. What do you think he will bring to the squad.

He will be the second coming of Tim Duncan and he will be a waste of a scholarship! (never middle ground here, lol)

In reality, he will be a steady contributor, providing us with D and rebounding on both ends; energy and effort every night; developing post effectiveness on O; will allow both Meeks and Hicks enough rest to stay fresh for end game; and another big to help protect the rim and off-set fouls/ injury to either Hicks or Meeks. I'm hopeful that he will develop into an effective post presence on both ends by ACC time and a starter level talent by next year.

First big man off the bench, think he will be solid, love to see him give us a solid 15mins a game. Think he will develop a jump hook and step thru rather early in. I am looking for 6-8ppg and 4-5 rebounds.

I think he's going to need to bring solid bench play to the front court - and I think he'll be able to deliver. With Hicks foul trouble and Meeks injury/conditioning questions - there will be a lot of minutes for him to soak up. Hopefully he hits the ground running, and seems to have the right attitude to fit in from the start.

Splitting time to rest Hicks and Meeks will give Tony a few more minutes than David was thinking, IMO. Not a great deal more just a few minutes. But that is a lot in the college game. If he can do that and toss in a few buckets and some rebounds and increase production looking toward conference play, I would be tickled.
Makes me wonder when we will see the Meeks/Tony set or the Hicks/Tony set, could be some beautiful ball in there...

I think he'll get about 15 MPG and be ready to give us 5/5 right off the bat. He already has better post moves than Kennedy and at 6-10 and with long arms, he'll be pretty effective from the git go. I'm excited to see him and Isaiah play together.

Yeah, Archer, like :
Tony lofts a soft hook from the lane with the diagonal covered by Hicks slashing thru for the jam follow! Or Theo or JJ...

Or the hook softly settles into the rim! I think he will develop into a good scorer too! I expect to love Tony B.

Tony is gonna be a beast for us and I'm thankful, as well, to have him. This year I see him, by ACC play, getting very meaningful minutes and wouldn't surprise me the least to see him "carry" us in a game or 2. Yea I think he's that good.

We are indeed fortunate to have signed Tony. We're going to need at least 15 solid MPG from him in order to reach our potential. I am not one bit worried about Tony. His old fashioned, Brad Daugherty style game is just what the doctor ordered. He is a fundamentally sound young player and that generally translates well across competition levels. Confidence is all he needs.

Like toophly, I can see him being the difference in us winning or losing a couple of games this year.

I have no idea. But I hope he can give us 20+ solid minutes per game.

While we have the personnel to play small if we want to, I'd like that to happen only if we want to, not because we have to.

Ideally both Kennedy and Isaiah step up and play 30 per game, but I'm not sure that will happen. If they give us 25 each - which seems reasonable - that leaves 30 front line minutes that have to be covered. The more Tony can handle with competence, the better off we are.

Pretty excited to see Tony play. He will definitely have some space to operate with the guards we have and coming in the future. Think outside shooting is going to be solved and any doubling in the post will be a mistake paid for in the form of a made three. Seems to be a good mix of shooters and guys taking it to the hole.

Hoping we can get another big or two to help him out in the 17 class. Don't feel like we need 3 necessarily like I have been reading on here unless Tony blows up and leaves end of next year.

Can't wait for the season to start.

Tony, IMO will be solid but with out a lot of bells & whistles, I want folks to keep in mind, been a while since we had a big man comes in and have a great freshman season. I am expecting about 15mins a game from him, hope he plays well enough to get more but I don't want to over expect. I do think between Theo and Luke a lot of the 4 PT will be covered that Hicks does not take.

now as for number of big men we need from 2017, we need 3, now 2 and a long wing like Wilkes would be fine because Wilkes could be as much 4 as he is a 3, could even be more of a 4. I am just not ready to see Luke as a starter or a 15-20min a game guy. Maybe he can show me he can be that next season but for now that scares me a ton.

If we ONLY get 2 big men from 2017 that means we only have 3 and 2 of those will be freshmen for season after next, means Tony has to start and he is so far un-proven in college and at least another freshman or Luke? Very likely the bigs we do get will not be one of the 5stars we are wanting, much more likely our bigs come from the 3 and 4 star list and that is OK. Theo will still be there and he can play the 4 when needed making getting a long wing a solid get if we can't nail in 3 true big men from 17.
