What's the concert you wish you had seen in person?

I would give just about anything to be able to go back and watch Hendrix live. But not at Woodstock. I’d want to see him in a club. That’s when he was at his best IMO. Something about the raw guitar playing in a smaller venue was magical.

good point...

I have a better idea...

I would try to be close to the stage to grab that piece of the Stratocaster...

When he says "You move me... Lookout..." and draws up that low E string... that is like a dragon roaring!

I dont care about the crowd, but Jimi, Santana, The Who, CCR, The Band, etc.., etc.
Awesome list of performers and iconic performances. I mean, it's hard to say for sure because those people played countless shows and we can all watch, or hear, those performances over and over and they become more and more iconic. I used to watch the Woodstock VHS endlessly! In 1989 they broadcast the 20th anniversary and I recorded it and watched it for like 6 months straight. Alvin Lee and the intro to I'm Going Home is another example. The Fish Cheer! The only performace I didn't like was John Sebastian... he seemed really fake. The rest were awesome. And, I bought the boxed set when it was released and had previously unreleased songs that were even better!

I wish I had seen Queen (with Freddie of course). They played Greensboro in the early 80's but like a dummy I thought I'd catch them next time. Doh!
I DON'T regret a similar situation in November 1985. A buddy of mine came in to where I was working and said Stevie Ray Vaughan is playing at Cumberland County Memorial Coliseum tonight! I ditched work and we pawned my guitar and hauled ass to Fayetteville in his 1967 Galaxie 500! AWESOME show!

SRV is another one I wish I'd seen

Malcolm retired and died. Axl Rose was singing in a wheelchair onstage with them. Angus is bald with the schoolboy outfit. It's not a good look or sound, frankly.
I was able to see AC/DC before all of that. Good show and I was mostly deaf when I left.

Yeah, when I was a kid I got to tag along with my much older cousins. We saw them doing the For Those About To Rock tour in... 81 or 82? I dunno. I just remember there were these cannons up in the rafters... or, what passed for cannons during that song. And, yes, it was very loud. But, I was really stoked because I loved Angus Young! I still do... just, I like Angus Young, not Angus Old.

I usually keep up with the rockers better than that. I am disappoint.
Malcolm had been diagnosed with dementia, and retired from the band and performing. I don't remember when that was exactly, myself... I think around 2013-2015-ish. He died in November of 2017... not too long ago. They're nephew Stevie Young took his place. Malcolm died a month after their older brother George died. George produced some of their stuff, I think. And, he was the guitarist in The Easybeats, in the 60s!

Dayum... how can someone play that fast and THAT GOOD! @strummingram, the dude was not human

I already shared my experience in Fayetteville, as a kid. I'd known about Stevie since his first release with Double Trouble, I bought the cassette in junior high, I think. It was really cool for me because there was really no one contemporary that was playing blues. He helped bring it back. He BROUGHT IT BACK!

Here's one of my most recent SRV replicas. I make the straps, too.

I even play them. I used a backing track from "guitarbackingtrack.com"... as a demo for people who wanna buy them.

I can't even come anywhere close to his precision.

I saw Peter Frampton in Myrtle Beach at "Cowboy's" Bar, and "The Storm" opened for them. The Storm had Gregg Rolie and Ross Valory from the original Journey band. I'd never heard of them. My girlfriend, at the time, liked them. I was kinda jazzed to find out that Rolie was in the band because he is amazing! When he was in Santana and Journey, they were their best with him. He was sitting at the bar (huge bar at that place), be fore the show and I saw him and thought "That's fvcking Gregg Rolie there!" I think it was 1991, or maybe 92, I forgot. Anyway, I did the goofy star-struck thing and walked up to him and spoke to him. I told him exactly what I just typed "Man, every band you were in, they were their best because you were in it." He actually told me a little story about Woodstock with Santana, but I forgot the details.

Anyway... I mention all of this, and specifically Peter Frampton because, he was great that night, too. And, he's no longer going to be playing...

I liked him best in Humble Pie. I didn't meet him, unfortunately.

I hate to hear that about Frampton. I was pretty young when that live album came out, but my older brother had it and played it all the time... which I didn't mind at all. :D

strictly from being alive and having a chance to go, it’s queen hands down.

i’ve seen all my favorites, minus original van halen, but not so sure that would be as good as original queen.
