Where have we had "worship restriction" in this country?

I saw a local politician for a Senate seat or something like that on TV this morning with a new ad and one of his campaign points was he wanted "worship without restriction." What exactly is that? I mean, clearly, it means a person should be able to worship and not have any restrictions placed on them but I was not aware that we had that going on now. What is he talking about? anyone know?

I have no idea what you're referring to in particular, but maybe this politician was referring to the stomping out of celebrations of certain religions (for example, Christmas displays) because it offends certain groups of people.
