24/7 has him going 100% for Duke so I sure hope you're right. I didn't think we had a shot in hell for that kid. Bamba is the guy I was thinking we would snag along with Jeremiah Tilmon. But from what I've gathered I agree, Roy has been making serious moves in the offseason. You know he wants a top class for 2017
Ut oh dukies, is it as funny now as when I said a few weeks ago that we had a good shot at this kid, that we may not lead for him at the time but he is not a gurantee dukie lock? Now that Capel can not keep telling the kid that UNC looks like they are going to have a post season ban in your one season of college ball, things are not so certain are they. Oooops, I just raised shonuffs blood pressure by 50pts, darn, I was shootin for 100...LOL

They were especially concerned that UNC could have got a post season ban in the only season they are planning to play college ball. Now that has gone away with the NOA and we look now like Roy was telling them the truth all along and others were, shall we say being liberally progressive with the truth...

Yep. Roy is going hard for a Carter/Bamba duo.
Before the new NOA most of the media conceded Wendell to dook, but they forget UNC was his early (heavy) favorite before dook even got involved (which BTW wouldn't have happened without USA Basketball, but that's a whole nuther issue). Wendell is not a "dook player" --- he is a perfect fit for our system and he knows that. In fact, without the negative junk we would have been the odds-on favorite.
However, make no mistake, the ncaa junk hurt a lot with the Carters --- and Capel apparently flat did a number on us with negative recruiting. But... now with Roy vindicated he ain't backing down. I just hope he can make up for the ground we lost....
Hey, dookies hatin' on me is a badge of honor, Dave. And correcting your last sentence I'll just say Capel and others were FOX-y with the truth, but yeah the thing with the Carters is that academics are a big issue and apparently the junk did a lot of damage there (fanned by Capel, et al).
Again, dunno if he'll pull it off but Roy is back in it.

Seriously, Tom, we all know the '17 class is crucial. We need another "anchor" class like '14.
Jalek is a great class cornerstone, and we're gonna need two Bigs (or a true post plus a combo-forward like say, PJ Washington). A true Point would be nice (JB, Nate and Stilman could all be gone) and an athletic 3 wouldn't hurt but frontcourt is a huge priority.(no pun intended).
From everything I've heard Roy has some extra pep in his step these days. A lotta damage was done and the damned media still ain't helping us but Roy has the final NOA going for him. And c'mon... if you're a Big who wants to touch the ball, UNC's gotta be on your list. I suspected Wendell would be back in play and that was good to hear that he is.
We still have work to do. Get 'em, Roy.

But yeah, on Carter, it is like a title fight set for 12 rounds, duke hit us with a huge body shot and got the 1st round knock down but now the 8 count is done, bell rings, time for round 2. Roy ain't done punching and is gonna land his own heavy shots, we will have to see who is left standing in the end.

No one will outwork Roy, his work ethic is legendary. To start out selling calendars and eventually become head coach of the finest basketball program in the country, that says it all.
Just posted something in a new thread. I know Roy is going hard after both. All I know so far about how we actually stand with Bamba is stuff from Carolina recruiting writers, and that at least sounds pretty positive. The word down here in ATL on Wendell is still the same as from the OP.

He is also known to make promises that are not delivered on, ask Thorton who told him he would be featured in those screen roll sets... K does not make the promises, he has Capel for that and that dude will say anything to get a recruit and he hates UNC with a passion.
With Bamba, I LIKE where we stand, read between the lines there man and understand I do at times love to understate what I think or know. I think with Bamba it comes down between us, Ky, and maybe Kansas, with duke trailing.
Oh, by the way, did ya know Bamba and Carter are talking about playing together ...
I just heard a hint of that. Trent has been trying his damnedest to recruit Wendell to go with him but that has seemed to come more from Trent's end. This stuff is very fluid and this summer and early fall will be critical.
Bolden is at least a 2-year player. The kid is not even close the ability of Okafor. Knowing K, he will recruit over Bolden and tell Carter that he will be the starter Day 1. Hopefully, the Bolden commitment may tip Carter over to the Heels.
Gary, I think K may be on the hook to offer Tyus Jones little brother a ship. Oh, did I say that?!!!!! K will probably spurn the kid now since he got what he wanted from Tyus Jones. K, the leader of men.
I agree, Bolden is not a one & done but he thinks he is, kinda like that Ky center they got can't think of his name but didn't play a ton but still entered the draft after his frosh season. I don't think Bolden is as big time a talent as he feels he is, most kids do think more of their game than reality should suggest but some never realize that even after playing in college, case in point Larry Drew.
But yeah, Bolden IMO does not help duke with any of the other big men they are looking at for 2017, he can be seen as a place holder in the way of huge PT these recruits want to see while 10mi down the road that is not the case for the first timer in a while. Now us looking to sign a 2 guard or a wing could be seen as a problem e we are loaded at those 2 positions.
That's what made it so sweet when our boys gave Capel that butt whipping in the 2009 tourney.
