I think about that a lot because no one in my opinion this season has actually stepped up verbally and held other teammates and themselves accountable.

It only seems logically that Davis and withers being 5 year players would step up and lead by example but that has not been the case. Coach Davis during an interview last week said this is the quietest squad he has ever been around.

Last season the transfer theguard from Notre Dame was unquestionably the leader in the Locker Room and on the court and many teammates spoke of his leadership qualities but this season there has been no fire and brimstone from anyone.

Some may remember a couple of years ago when the team like this years squad was underperforming Bacot went off in the locker room on his teammates saying “if you don’t want to be here don’t show up”. Several of his teammates got offended and decided in the off season to transfer out instead of trying harder to improve.

Many would say it is Coach Davis’s job to raise Hell to try and motivate the team but I say it is the entire team’s responsibility to hold each other to a higher standard. Someone needs to light a fire even if it is a underclass and have a player’s only meeting so everyone knows their job and the goals of the team.

Do you agree or disagree that a player needs to emerge as the leader not just on the court but also in the locker room…

Withers is actually in his 6th year of college.

But to your point, I don't see a vocal leader on the court. Ingram was probably the best vocal leader on last year's team.

I remember posting last summer about who would step up to replace Cormac and Ingram. They were tough players and helped set a mindset that all successful teams need. Regretfully my concerns have come true.

Having a night to think about it I could see Cadeau emerging as the verbal leader as every game he is showing more and more grit and determination and defensively and offensively he is leaving it all on the court. I also like Trimble’s relentless energy since he has recovered from his injury….

The only guy I see as a leader is Seth and he is just not a real vocal guy. Everyone assumed it would be RJ but RJ spends way to much time in his own head to lead anyone else. In time it would be Drake and Jack but Jack wil not be around long enough, hope Drake is.

Dsouthr I for one would not be too sure that Capt Jack is a one and done because even if he reminds me of Vinnie Johnson know as the microwave who can carry a team on and off the bench his defense is a no show many times on the hardwood and that is the exact reason he spent so much time on the bench in yesterday’s game…It has been mentioned many times during broadcast that Jackson calls Coach Davis EVERY NIGHT to ask him how he can improve his OVERALL game. Coach Davis spent many years in the NBA and he knows how important instant offense is to the success of a team but he also knows if you don’t play defense your career will be in the G league or playing overseas…
