Personally, I don't think Hubert is doing a good job this year so far, but in fairness, the jury is still out on him. On Mack, the jury has deliberated and come back with the proper verdict.
not sure how the jury is still out. we are averaging 10 losses a season with him, look every bit the part of another 10 loss team this season. he’s not setting the world on fire recruiting. what good is he?

Hubert is the DEI version of Larry Fedora. Says all the right things, but will never get you over the hump.
Of not for Caleb Love going insane for 6 games his first year his seat would be starting to warm up but that bought him another 3 or 4 years.

I was dogged a couple years ago for wanting to fire Hubert after we made a lucky run to the title game. What has Hubert did other than that? Lol
Hubert's first 3 years are better than K's first 3 years. Before you get your panties in a bunch, I'm not comparing the 2, I'm just sayin', the jury is still out. I kinda wish dook had fired K after 3 years.
If you listen to those dudes over there, Scheyer can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag, but I'd make a hefty wager he wins a title or 2 in the next decade.
He's had Roy's players for most of his time here.. it's basically been handed to him. His recruiting hasn't been very good TBH and his coaching seems to suck.
What do you expect from a guy who was never a head coach before? It was a pathetic hire. They didn’t choose the best person for the job - they merely chose the best alumnus they could get. Welcome to mediocrity.
IMO Hubert is doing a good job. What exactly is he supposed to do differently? UNC just doesn’t pay the great players what they demand. That’s the reason we don’t have a stud at the 5 position which is proving to be our downfall this season. Hubert can’t rebound or block out from the coaches block. Until UNC decides to pay up we will be an average team. And let me remind you that Hubert is not the one writing the checks. He merely has to do with what his budget allows.
Perhaps we will be able to compete in a few years when NIL gets revamped or a salary cap is instituted. Otherwise stop blaming Hubert for something that is clearly out of his control. Start blaming the system which is destroying college sports.

Hubert is the one that had Withers, Cadeau, Trimble, RJ, And Jackson on the court for several posessions. It was pure madness watching Michigan State abuse that lineup. Not sure how he thought that was an option.

Tonight was the first time this year we have throw an entry pass to the post. I know they can't score when the get but at least it will take a little pressure off the guards. Our entire offense is dribble around and either drive and get blocked or shoot a contested jump shot off the dribble.
If you are going to be undersized and talentless past the 3 you have got to have a scheme and we don't have one.
There are recreational church basketball teams with the youth pastor coaching that run better offense than we do.

I was initially very critical of Davis' hire. But with the backdrop of the mega changes in college bball (which isn't done) and 2 successful seasons, I'm fine with things.
Everyone should take a deep breath here- we’re not far off. Close game on the road at Kansas, Got to see Auburn, and should have won last night. Great comeback against Dayton! We have some front court and rotation issues to iron out, but we will!! I am a little concerned about missing out on some guys we wanted- we are Carolina and should be a top destination for any high school or portal player.
Facepalm. It is not even December and it's time to fire Hubert! Post with reason and not emotion folk. Damn, we were a #1 seed, ACC regular season champs, Sweet Sixteen and he needs to be fired. Sheesh. Hubert is the right guy. He didn't commit the dumb fouls last night or miss a bunny at the rim at a critical moment.
Roy's players did include the only big we have seen that could remotely play basketball.
Well we were a #1 seed last year and won the ACC regular season. That was a pretty good year wasn't it?
Our frontcourt is terrible this year, and it's an egregious coaching error to have it be so. I'm a little worried about our current trajectory (for next year too), but the recruiting is the big issue this year.
For all those claiming it's just poor recruiting, Wes Miller is fielding a Top 20 team with only one player ranked in the top 50. Meanwhile much of Hubert success has come off the back of Roy's efforts. Four years in and his top player each year have all been Roy recruits.
Let's just hope Wes doesn't get too comfortable at Cincy before all is said and done.

I actually thought Wes was a better choice than Hubert to start with. Hubert continues, year over year, to not make the best of what he has available and Wes was a freaking great coach at UNCG before Cincy as well. Great post. jmo
You, me and many others wanted Wes. Wes is a good coach and just from a coaching perspective there was no doubt in my mind he would’ve been superior to Hubert who had no experience. I do feel bad for Wes about the sham interview process that Carolina put together likely just to comply with HR requirements.

Everyone that is acting like we were a #1 seed last year is an amazing accomplishment.. we are UNC, where we are expected to be a #1 seed no matter what!! We are in one of the weakest major conferences in college basketball. Put us in the big 12 or SEC and we would have never scratched a #1 seed!!

Got that right. All these peeps on here keep bailing hubcap out because he "doesn't have the NIL $$". Wonder how much NIL Wes had to win 3 SOCON's and to make a top 20 team at Cincy? Likely less for the entire team than Tyson, EC and our 5th yr. star shooting guard got. jmo
Wes struggled big time up to this year at Cincy, no NCAA. Cincy expects that, strong tradition, they have been bad, and Cincy fans were calling for his head as well. He is in a hot seat year, but has the horses this year to survive it hopefully.

I’m was actually proud of him for showing some fire and doing something about it. Instead of just pushing his glasses up and pacing himself to death. Best thing he’s done.
While I admire the fire, it didn't matter what he said or did the call wasn't going to change and that play killed our run.
I don't think Hubert is doing a bad job this season considering what he has to work with. I am not happy that JWash's minutes now seem to be cut down as much but Jwash does have to become more assertive on both ends. The larger problem is what we came in to this season with, how we simply did not address the problem of no more Bacot. This is made even more concerning when you realize our staff knew there was a very strong likelihood that we would also not have High available and that James Brown was no where near ready to play solid minutes.
Agree 100%. And sometimes it's not that you lose but the way and reasons your losing. The way we're (not) playing this season and some of these very early double digit deficits scream coaching issues. jmo
Even still I'm more confident in the guy with a track record of building a program from scratch vs the guy who inherited a bunch of talented players his first day on the job
