We need a stud wing. I don't want to see us settling for a wing from Elon, or trying to force a power forward or small guard to play out of position.

Have we been in contact with Tyran Stokes? He's the #1 player in 2026 and he's looking to reclassify.

He has an official with Kentucky coming up and with seeing just how much money they have for NIL compared to us, I don't even think it would be a consideration

Well we have the NIL money we set aside for Powell and Lubin. That's probably $3 million.

Kentucky has already spent at least $14 million, some are reporting more.

RJ Luis
Jamie Watkins
Stojakovic
Derrion Reid

Those appear to be the best available SFs.

Darius Adams is a 6'5" guard that just decommitted from UConn.

Any other worthwhile options out there?

Luis - questionable shot selection, not great from deep, maybe a difficult personality

Watkins - terrible decision maker, turnover machine, not great from deep

Stoyakovic - bad defender, possibly quit on his team last year at times, efficiency poor

Adams - don’t know him. Let’s go for him

Keep in mind Drake Powell averaged 7 pts and 3 rebs. He shot a solid 3pt percentage on low volume attempts, but he also shot a poor FT percentage. He had yet to show he could get his own shots or be a primary scorer. We have all just assumed that his offense would take a leap forward his sophomore year, and that combined with his defense he would be a big time player for us. It's entirely possible his efficiency and shooting percentages were going to drop as a sophomore as he had to become a focal point of our offense and opposing defenses.

A versatile, athletic true 3-man is a must at this point. As I said on another thread, the staff has been looking in earnest.

Possible, sure, in the cliched sense that anything's possible. But "entirely possible"? No way.

How about "remotely possible, bordering on thoroughly implausible"?

Much better bet is that Drake would have been a star.

He'd have to make major improvements offensively to become a star. Especially if teams were focusing their defense on him.

USC transfer Desmond Claude had heard from the following schools, averaged 15.8 points and 4.2 assists this season. - BYU - Ole Miss - Florida - UVA - Gonzaga - Indiana ........

If you know, how many of these top options are also in the draft testing the waters? I know some have been mentioned in that vein, but don't know if they've actually entered or how serious they are about staying in.

I assume when a guy enters the portal and also the draft, he's not sure he's staying in the draft. Unlike Powell, for example.

One of the interesting things about the portal could be that it becomes a way to gauge how good coaches are on a couple of measures: how well they put together a team and, especially, how well they develop their players.

Does Wilcher do better at Texas? Does Cadeau do better at Michigan? Does Evans do better at UNC?

If so (or if not) that's a data point on the coach the player is leaving and the coach he's joining. After a while, those data points add up . . . and you start being able to discern patterns about which coaches develop players better, and worse.

As some here may have noticed, a few months back I lost faith in Hubert's ability to develop players. It was a slow process that finally tipped over on the side of Hubert not being a good developmental coach. I could be wrong. He could prove me wrong. But that's how I see him now. But every year could now be a referendum on that for pretty much every coach, thanks to the portal.
