Who are your five least favorite teams in college sports? Also explain why if you don't mind. I'll go first.

1. Dook: self-explanatory
2. State: Not a NC native, but my dislike is growing for them. Crazy fans, out to bring us down, etc.
3. Penn State: I know too many Paterno apologists and generally obnoxious fans to pull for them
4. Kentucky: Don't have a great reason to dislike them because the only alums I know from the school I like, but I always root against them whereas I don't mind Kansas and I will usually enjoy seeing UCLA and Indiana win. Maybe because they have more championships and are much moreso direct rivals with UNC than UCLA.
5. ND/Wake/USC: Take your pick of elitist private schools, the type I generally root against; growing up in California USC is the most personal to me, but I don't care much for the others either

Honorable mention: Baylor: I don't know any alums or they would probably be higher

Kind of ironic you ask people to ask splain why they don't like certain schools, but you yourself don't appear to have a particular reason for your 2nd, 4th and 5th choices.....

1). Duke for basketball for obvious reasons

2). Ohio State and Michigan for football because of their head coaches

3). Kentucky for basketball because of their head coach

4). USC for football as I grew up a Notre Dame football fan

5). Did I mention Duke?

NC state is number 1

Duke a distant 2. Both are pretty self explanatory

Uga number 3. I've lived in GA all my life and had to deal with "why are you a UNC fan?" "does UNC even have a football team?" Bullshit unoriginal crap. My disdain for their fans is only slightly below Duke. I did do some partying in Athens when I was younger. Funniest thing I have ever seen. One of the women gymnasts walked in on her football team boyfriend cheating. She wrapped her legs around him and squeezed so he couldn't breathe and started wailing on him. Dude was bloodied up by the end. Hands down the funniest thing I've ever seen

4. Any California team. Couldn't tell you why. Probably cause most people I've met from there are arrogant pricks

5. Notre Dame. Never seen a team get hyped so much and fail over and over and over. At this point I'd be wary of putting them in the top 25 on a preseason poll

dook, ncsu, scar, n.dame, auburn, kentucky, and cretin (because of one game a few years ago in which they tried to injure our players)

I added a bit more clarification. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

1. Dook....Self explanatory
2. State....Self explanatory
3. Kenturkey.... Arrogant fan base... Calipari
4. Kansas... Don't care for Bill Self!
5. Crayton...2012, any questions?

doot-coach cusser

dook- obvious
NC State- I want them to lose every game
Kentucky- They're Kentucky
Maryland- Cretins
Notre Dame- overexposed and overhyped
SCar- Lil Carolina
Michigan- not sure, have always hated them
Syracuse- arrogant Yankees
Creighton-thugs

1. dook - beyond obvious reasons

2. kensucky - obvious reasons

3. wherever that slimeball Calipari's coaching - since that happens to be uk, then double their current suckishness to the near-dook level.

4. Wherever that slimeball Sean Miller is coaching - currently AZ

5. Creighton - again obvious reasons #Butter. Hope they never win another game.

6. alabama - there's literally nothing good or wholesome about that school or the armpit city it's located in, and Avery Johnson makes it worse.

7. Boston College - Donya Abrams, anyone? They deserve their perennial suck status.

8. Wherever Rick Barnes is coaching

9. Kansas - After pulling for them dating back to the Danny Manning teams, and of course under Roy, I've really developed a dislike for that program under Self. They play fast and loose with some stuff, and let's just say they recruit "differently" than they did in the Williams era.

10. West Virginia - Never liked Huggins as a coach, even though he's Roy's buddy. Now, I love pressing, but 5 guys fouling 5 guys on nearly every possession just makes a mockery of the game.

I don't mind their basketball team so much because they're a non-factor, and their few basketball fans are mostly just whipped.

Now football??? That's a whole 'nuther matter. Worst, most hateful, delusional and obnoxious fanbase in the universe (only fanbase that rivals them is bama). I also live amongst the unwashed mutt population (we call them "Leghumpers"), and I've found that a can of flea spray and a rolled up newspaper works wonders ;).

And BTW: Having dated a couple of them, I believe your gymnast story...

Glad to see I'm not alone lol. They really are delusional obnoxious idiots.

As for that story thanks for mentioning that. I still laugh any time I get to tell it or someone else mentions it

This is me too, in the same order and growing up in Georgia. Just remove the California teams part.

UGA fans and Moo fans are almost mirror images of each other (Mooers are just even crazier). UGA fans are Moo-lite except they don't care about basketball.

I really don't dislike other teams, and these are my reasons:

1. The past is the past.
I'm sorry (not sorry), but I think it's idiotic to dislike teams because of what a player or players did YEARS ago. I may dislike that player, but I'm not going to hate on a team like Creighton for what a player did to Butter. Remember Makhtar N'Diaye? He did something pretty messed up while playing for UNC, and if someone didn't like the Tar Heels for that, I'd just shake my head.

2. Blame game.
Some posters were highly critical of Kentucky fans for blaming the refs during the Elite 8 game, and they were crucified because "UNC won on merit"....but many posters over here are quick to blame the refs when Duke beats UNC or Duke beats anyone. Hmmmm. I can't hate on a team for its fans when some Heel fans do the same thing.

3. Scandals.
Similar to #2, when other schools are doing something fishy (i.e. Kentucky and coach Cal), they are automatically guilty--but when it comes to UNC, people are "ABCers" and out to get UNC. Again, I can't hate on a team for its fans when some Heel fans do the same thing.

Now that said, if I had to pick one, I may have to go with Duke. But what's funny is that I don't really dislike Duke; I often wonder would how I would feel about them if Coach K wasn't there. But speaking of Coach K and why I picked them:

1. It's a pattern with him--not just one year. It seems as if he spends a lot of time outs fussing at the refs, which to me looks more like intimidating the refs. Teaching how to take bogus charges under the rim which could hurt an opposing player, which unlike Creighton, seems to be taught and practiced year after year. So what I'm saying is that he has created that culture or identity at Duke which I don't really care for.

2. Dodging out-of-Conference true road games. To me, that takes away from college basketball. Remember during Roy's tenure at UNC, the Tar Heels have played true road games against UConn, Arizona, Kentucky, Texas, etc. Again, he hasn't done this a couple of times; it's as if it's a practice. And what gets me, some--not all--of the Duke fans I know won't admit it.

3. Like some of you, I watch UNC basketball, football, and some baseball. For that reason, I don't consider myself a bandwagon fan, added with the fact that I've been watching UNC sports for years. I know I just said you can't group all fans together, and I don't believe you can--but let's just say some of the Blue Devil fans I know are basketball fans only, can't even spell Coack K's last name, and don't know anything about their team before 1991.

Kentucky - OAD U. (My favorite moment of the tournament was watching Califari drawing up a play with .3 seconds on the clock down 2 to Luke Maye!)
Maryland - for jumping to the Big 10 but on the other hand it opened the door for Louisville which I like.
South Carolina - for quitting the ACC after losing in the ACC tournament (but I guess they've suffered long enough)
Texas - when Mack Brown was there. UNC stuck with him through hard times and just when they were turning the corner he jumps ship!

Thanks for the thoughtful post, I enjoyed reading it. Like you, I'm also not a fan of complaining about the refs or scandals/dirty recruiting. I wish much of the NCAA's reach would be spent on more useful things anyway, and it's always fans complaining about bias against their team.

I listed Duke as my #1, but I have plenty of friends from there and even might have gone there had things worked out slightly differently. I'm sure I would have been a rabid Duke fan instead. Certainly dislike of a sports team is a totally different beast from real dislike, but Duke is the team I would least like to see win games.

I don't like to blame the refs either, but UK went way beyond that. When you start trying to ruin a guy's business, make death threats against him, call him a pedophile and wish for your opponent to die in a plane crash then you've taken it too far. As bad as some people can be on here about the refs, I doubt they have gone that far.

I feel ya on UGA. I've lived in Atlanta for the last 10 years and went to Georgia State University and people rag on me all the time for being an OSU and UNC fan...sorry, I grew up in Cary, NC and Columbus, OH and will never EVER like any GA teams besides the pros...and mainly because my wife works for the Hawks ha.

Dook, Dook, Dook, Michigan (An OSU fan as well as UNC fan) and maybe toss in the bullshit cheating ass Patriots who just devastated the entire state of GA...FKKK I'm still suicidal over the Super Bowl.

Thanks for making it a tiny bit better, UNC.

cowgirl's and dook are America's favorite teams to hate

I'm going to be VERY specific

The 1997/1998 Utah team. Still can't believe UNC lost to them. Hurt like heck. Still does. Jamison, Carter, Cota and company were such a fun bunch to watch. Really wanted to see them cut down the nets. Haywood should have been part of "The Starting 6". Not Ndiaye

I tend to dislike certain coaches more than teams.

Miami - ever since Larranaga deliberately snubbed Roy in the handshake line a couple of years back. Maybe if I knew the story or if I learned they are friends I would let it go, but until then.... I sort of wish I could let this one go, because I respect his coaching.

Clemson - because of Brownell's hissy fit (about something Kennedy did?) earlier this year. What a baby.

Villanova - the 2nd half beatdown a couple of decades ago still hurts. Last year still hurts. And I don't think the Mafia should be in coaching. Probably not fair, but Jay Wright just looks the part.

The jury is out on Manning and Wake.

Creighton - of course.

I am starting to mellow, though. Since Rick Barnes was fired, I don't hate him as much as I used to.

Dang... I forgot about nova. Guess I can sub them for BC since the Abrams incident has been 20+ yrs ago (yikes!)

I feel you, but I'm talking about disliking fan bases for something similar we've done. I know we didn't go that far, but I'm talking about saying other teams are crybabies because they complain about refs but some UNC fans do that when we lose--especially to Duke. Again, I see where you're coming from, but that's not what I meant.

And something else while I'm at it about hating teams for something they did YEARS ago, which is insane to me: I didn't like the "Bad Boy" Detroit Pistons for their dirty style of play, but once they left, my dislike left; I didn't hold an elementary school grudge because of what happened in the distant past.
