Who Starts Monday NIght?

Same group that started in the past exhibition game.
That certainly wouldn't be surprising. Then again, we probably need to see our bigs play more ahead of the Kansas game. So maybe start 2 bigs?

The other bigs don't need to start to get more burn. But I do think it would be good to give them more burn.

Maybe JWash can handle Hunter for 25-30 minutes, but I don't want to have to depend on that. And even if he can, who handles the other 10-15 mins? I don't know enough about KU's roster. Will we need to start 2 bigs?

Lubin has been looking quietly efficient, and somewhat better than JWit, but still with a suspect motor. Is Claude just going to be a mop-up guy? He looked better than that to me, but on only a few minutes.

EC, RJ, Seth, Tyson, Wash.
I don't mind the lineup as of now when no games have been played. But if it turns out that Cadeau and Seth are bad 3PT shooters again, I'm not sure the two of them can work together offensively. There's a lot of buzz about those 2 but they obviously have to prove it. I'm also not sure if it will work of those 2 guys turn down wide open 3s too. But have to see how good RJ/Tyson/Washington play together before anything definitive.

Claude is academically ineligible. That isn't going to change in the middle of fall semester. Absolute best case scenario is he becomes eligible for spring semester if his fall grades raise his GPA back above the minimum.

Kansas is just one of several front courts that are going to be bigger and stronger than us in our out of conference slate. We don't have the bigs to deal with them head to head. So we have to lean into our strengths. Most of our talent is perimeter players. So we play small and fast, and hopefully force the big teams to go small to match up with us.

I agree and really just going off of what they did in the few times we’ve seen them early. I don’t understand where the Seth is a poor deep shooter stuff comes from. He shot right at 42% last year. He hesitates and I hate it. I think just by his play in the two tune up games that he’s gained some confidence. EC is the one who has to improve from deep. I think he has but I want to see it in games as well.

I never want to see a guy take a shot that he is not feeling!

I don't think Seth will ever be known as a knock down jump shooter so the thing that is ut most important for him is to take shots he feels great about, shot selection. You may not like him passing up a open 3 to drive and maybe take an even harder look from 2 but if he is feeling the 2 that is what I want him to take. How many times have we heard the words, if the defense leaves you wide open and dares you to shoot, there is a reason they are doing that?

From what I see, as a jump shooter, Seth is more a guy that likes to shoot off the dribble than catch and shoot from distance. if it is a trey I think he looks to step in to the shot

EC, RJ, Seth, JWit, JWash seem like the starters to me! If we play 3 guards, I do not like going so small at 4 also! I would have no issue with Lubin at 4 either, but I think JWit brings an extra element to the position. There will be times we go small at 4 obviously with Cade or Drake, but I hope we are a little bigger at 3 when we do! Not worried in the least with either Seth or EC shooting this season. They both have shown improved confidence and that is all they needed. I also have no issue with Seth turning down a 3 to put pressure on the D when he sees an opportunity! Many factors play into it including fumbling the catch, your feet not quite right, seeing something on D, wanting to get a foul on a key player, noticing we don't have good rebounding position, or just not feeling it! Last season I agree it was an intentional part of opponents' plans to leave EC and Seth wide open; I HOPE it still is!

If Seth isn't confident enough in his own shot and turns down wide open 3s, that kind of tells me all I need to know about his shooting ability. Obviously we've experienced the other side where having irrational self confidence hurts you too. But for shooting specifically, turning down wide open 3s is probably not a great sign for you as a jump shooter. Hard for me to judge him off last year's percentages. Really small sample size and he went 12 straight games at one point without making a 3.

It becomes a lot easier obviously if Seth and Cadeau are average shooters on decent volume.

I think leaving potentially the best catch-and-shoot 3PT player in the country on the bench is malpractice (this is judging as of today before a game has been played). And especially benching him for Withers is almost unfathomable to me. For me, if you're going to start Withers, then Tyson needs to start at the 3.

If it's Seth, Withers, and Washington starting, then you're almost guaranteed to have 3 non-volume 3PT shooters in the starting lineup (Cadeau, Seth, Withers). I also don't think Withers attracts any attention defensively. And during meaningful regular season games, Seth hasn't attracted any defensive attention either.

This may be as good a place as any to say this... I have some very specific things I need to see from Hubert this season, my look is going to be harsher this season than prior simply because he needs to progress as a head coach. So far, it is still early but Hubert is checking off most of the boxes I wanted to see, especially the most important stuff! LOVE using the bench this deep, it is really helping keep the pace white hot!
