I hope people see what big Joel did today was the result of Roy's decision to play him early in the season.
Not sure if he lost a game for the Heels early on, but yeah, he made mistakes.
And along the way he got himself ready for this game.
Thanks to that time on the court early in the season, despite just mop-up and spot duty in the tourney till now, against the 'Cuse along came #42 and he gave valuable time and effort when his coach and team needed it the most.
This is why I really love the way Roy coaches. It's with a long-term, seasonal approach. Could have been that Roy didn't need Joel this whole tournament. The big fella could have just laughed and smiled there on the bench with Kenny Williams for 40 min per night. But Roy developed him and coached him just for a moment like the national semi final.
Please everyone, stick it in the memory bank so next season, around November/December when Roy throws out a weird line-up or plays someone out of position, or gives a bench player more than mop-up minutes, just remember, Roy has a plan in mind, he's making contingencies upon contingencies and it's not just about winning the game on the court right then, it's about building the best team he can get for the end of the season.
