Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan: Our players don't take paper classes

The academic and athletic scandal at North Carolina has become a national punchline of sorts, and Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan is the latest to use it as fodder for a one-liner.
During a pre-Final Four press conference in Indianapolis on Thursday, Ryan, whose team will play against Kentucky on Saturday night in the second national semifinal, began talking about his players' academics. He has a high opinion of what his guys do in the classroom.
"At Wisconsin," he said, "you cannot take classes, paper classes, and these other type of classes. You have to be in the classroom for the majority of your major."
The "paper class" line is a reference to the long-running scheme of African Studies paper classes that benefited UNC athletes and non-athletes for nearly two decades. The NCAA is investigating how athletes used the classes, and the role of athletic department personnel in directing athletes into them.
