“Upset” 2nd seeded Texas Tech in Lubbock today to move onto the Quarterfinals next week!!!

Nice, they play great defense but do not have the scoring that they have had in previous years.

Well another season of disappointment for the women's soccer team in the NCAA tournament losing 4 to 3 to BYU. Not sure what the future holds for Anson Dorrance since he has been coaching for 45 years and just recently signed a new 5 year contract. The semifinals has Florida State versus Clemson, and BYU versus Stanford. There will be at least one ACC team in the finals again this year.

Losing to the top seed in our portion of bracket might not be overall disappointing until you see UNC was up 3-0 with like 30:00 left in game

Wow!! Talking about roster turnover this team has lost a ton of players via transfers or going pro. Not really sure how many were starters and/or major contributors but either way from a team of 33 players to now 18 seems extreme. Better hit the portal coach.

I read somewhere that there was a new women’s soccer league starting up so could be an issue at some of the more talented programs

Are other teams experiencing this same issue, did not realize that the portal transfers in soccer was what it is in other major college sports?

Wow this timing is definitely a surprise but you can’t beat what Anson did for Women’s Soccer at UNC!!!

When I received word today that this was happening, I could not help but laugh. I have zero input into the inner workings of the women's soccer program, but I told someone, while watching the USA soccer team play this week, that I had a feeling Anson would retire before or after this season. Obviously, this close to the opener I thought he would go ahead and coach this season, but it just felt like the right time for him and his family.

Feels like what Dean did. Wait until close enough to the beginning of the season so the only option is an assistant.

This was my other thought receiving the news. He built the soccer program based on how Dean built the basketball program so it just makes sense that he would do something to allow his top assistant to take over this season.

Also, in a world where the transfer portal exists, it helped us get transfers and keep current players from leaving. Not sure exactly how much that played a role, but I'm sure he considered it.

Does anyone have any insights on who they will name as the coach, or will it be an intern? Would be nice if they brought back a former player to coach, not sure who has experience that would fit the job, or who would want it.

It will be the lead assistant for the rest of the year. As for after that, I don't really know. I would think that if Nahas does a good enough job then he would be in the lead, but UNC is probably the best job in the country so we should be able to get whoever we want.

Watched their game against Arizona today, scoreless first half, but they prevailed 2-0 to win the game in the second half.
