Women's Basketball

It appears the women's team has hit rock bottom along with the men's team. Neither are playing very well now, seem to have lost focus on what they did well last year. Most other teams have improved due to the portal, and vastly improved this season. It's early some may say, but I do not expect a surprise turnaround this season with the women's team. The team has some issues, which maybe the incoming class of 2023 can remedy some of them.

They need a win, been a rough start to their ACC schedule so far. Do not need to start 0-3 in the league.

Well, guess I spoke too soon. They lost to Miami tonight, watched the game, and they are not the same team as last year. Rebounding, shot selection, defense, they seem to lost all of it on their way back from Portland. Currently, they are tied for last place in the conference, and with Norte Dame coming up next, do not foresee anything changing for them. If they are unable to turn it around, they may not make the NCAA tournament this year.

Definitely struggling! As you said, they need to turn it around as soon as possible. Sunday would be a wonderful time to do it with the No. 4 Notre Dame in town.

Well John, it appears they finally ended their 4 game losing streak, let's see if they can build on this win. Their offense has been in a funk lately, they are only scoring around 60's in their games. But they won over Notre Dame 60 to 50 today, great win.

Ustby what is the status of her lower body injury, is it day to day? They without a doubt missed her play from their lost to Louisville. When do they expect her to be back into the lineup?
Not a lot of information but I would assume she is day-to-day while they monitor.

Ustby is solely missed along with Hodgson, it's tough replacing them with mostly freshman. Hopefully, they will be able to get them back by tournament time. If so, they could make a nice run, but it's also providing the young players with some valuable playing time, which will pay off in the long run.

When is Ustby and Hodgson expected back, they are solely being missed?

Yes, they are. I have not heard or read any answer to that question. It's a shame because the team was really rolling. All everyone can hope is to have them back for the tournaments.

Really believe when they return the team will indeed be deeper, and better. The playing time which the young players are receiving will be instrumental to their play in the ACC tournament and the NCAA tournament. With most of the core returning next season (2024), and you add in some of the freshman who will be joining the team, they could possibly be the team to beat in the ACC next year.
