Zayden would have been nice to have available this season. He's got bounce and attitude.

If Hubert planned on having him on the team next season, you would think Hubert would want him participating in practice and learning the things needed to contribute to the '25-'26 Tar Heels.

These days I assume nothing, believe very little of what I hear and to the point of believing what I see with a good bit of skepticism. Such is the world in which we now exist. Sad but true (hat tip to Metallica).

Hubert had no say in the 1 semester suspension from campus. That was the Honor Court. But Hubert is the guy who decides whether or not High can practice with the team in spring semester. He's chosen not to allow High to even be in the gym when the team practices.
If he didn’t have a say in the first semester he might not in the second. Just because he’s returning to school doesn’t mean he’s “still Hubert’s” to worry about. And whatever it was may have been bad enough that he doesn’t need to be around the team. Some things are more important than basketball.
What are scholarship terms in case like this? If he is attending, but not under scholarship or accepted on walk-on terms, that would be reasonable for me to disallow team participation. Pretty sweet deal education-wise if he's able to use an athletic scholarship and not participate in said athletics.
He got caught cheating. Went through the Honor Court. Was given the standard penalty for cheating, a 1 semester suspension from campus. If Hubert wanted to, Zayden absolutely could be practicing with the team right now.
I liked High and thought he showed potential. Potential that we might have benefited from this season.
OTOH, he also occasionally looked like the player who would win the "most likely to commit a flagrant foul" award. In other words, a bit overly aggressive, with a chip on his shoulder.
But I figured the coaching staff could harness that energy and I liked the strong motor he showed.

He's redshirting this year. Redshirts are allowed to practice.
I’d take him over any of our other bigs. We’re going to need him next year, let’s hope he returns.
But part of his suspension if from team activities. He can get better on his own, and if reinstated by summer schoo, he will have time to work with them.
I am glad that he appears to be putting whatever it is behind him. I pray that he learns from the issue and becomes a better man. I will support him through the process since he is Family! I was optimistic based on the learning curve and his obvious motor and skill! I hope he gets to return to the Heels, but more importantly, I pray he finds some place to live out his bball dreams!

"Limited skills" is far from accurate these days. His skillset is far more advanced than when he came in. Make no mistake, he was a big loss.
Agreed. I thought before the season Dook would sweep us. I thought this even though I also thought Washington and Tyson would be near double figure scorers for us. They obviously are not......so unless we shoot 60% from 3, we got very little chance in the game at HIS. Maybe we get a whistle at the Dean Dome, but doubt that will be enough.
Dooks defense is elite and this is their best team since maybe 2015.

I agree with the 2001 comment. The 2010 team particularly and 2015 team, while better, had the brackets collapse in their favor. Both avoided Kentucky teams that were the best in the field. Someone will need to step up to knock them out this year, and the high seeds need to avoid upsets. Would also be nice if they play another top seed for that team to not lose its best player during the game like last year.

Yeah, hate it but they have 2 likely NBA lotto guys, one very likely to be the first over all pick in the next draft and both are freshmen. They also have another freshman in K'snipple that is a first rounder in the next draft. And it isn't as if that is all they got, loaded team for sure. Anything short of a natty is an under achievement for that dukie team.
Yeah, Malo-squatch in the middle really is a problematic shot blocking threat, they are so dang long.
I believe coaching will cause them to falter in the tournament...
So far Schyer has been able to have great talent hand delivered to him, K had this current group of freshmen already wrapped up before he left. K already had the Boozer's wrapped up as well, so scheyer gets yet another class of top flight talent that he simply has to baby sit. I do not really have a read on what level a coach he is when he does not have big time talent, when he has to coach a team that is not able to out talent everyone but has to rely on the coach to make decisions that help his team.
