Zayden High Enrolled at UNC, but Won't Rejoin Team this Season

Earlier in this thread someone said they would prefer High more than Caleb Wilson, at least Wilson for 1yr. All I can say on that one is you may want to re-think that one.

The only 2 knocks I would place on Wilson are that he is thin, does need to fill out more and his jump shooting is a work in progress. Referring to his jump shooting, he is pretty much in the same place jump shooting wise as BOTH Jack and Drake were going in to their senior season of high school. Their jump shooting was a question mark at the same stage and we see how they have changed that while still freshmen in college. Wilson is a monster talent, make no mistake about that.

I am still thinking when all is said and done he commits to Ky, trust me if he were to commit to us I would be thrilled! If his body was more filled out I think I would have him on par or close to it, with Debansa. He has some almost Ervin Johnson like ability and we know how "magic" that can be.

That was me David.
I want Caleb Wilson, but I don't think he will be a difference maker in year one.
I think he is closer to Jarin Stevenson right now than he is to Dybansta. Stevenson was the 7th man on Alabama as a Freshman and he shoots much better than Wilson.
I said I don't think he will be better than Drake was/is in year one, and I believe that.
Drake is the 4th, maybe 3rd option on an 11-6 bubble team.
I don't think Caroliba can be a FF threat if Caleb Wilson is one of the 3 best players on the team next season.
I think he is Kentucky bound, but If we are able to get him, I would hope Hubert gets a couple stud frontcourt portal guys and makes Wilson beat them out for time.
I think in year two, Wilson can be VERY GOOD.

Tarwiz buddy, 2 very different players, out of high school the thing that intrigued so many about Stevenson was his shooting for his 6'9" length, Hubert wanted him as a stretch 4. Wilson is not the shooter Stevenson was in high school (at least not yet), they have similar length but Wilson is a shot blocking play maker, very athletic for such a thin frame, more John Henson than Marvin Williams. Recall, before coming to UNC Henson was a thin play making guy that felt he was a 3 but couldn't hit the jump shots. Henson had those go go gadget long arms, I don't know what Wilson's reach is but just from the look test he seems to have big time reach, Henson was around 7'4" reach I think, maybe a inch or 2 more, it was crazy for 6'9". What really sets Wilson apart from the crowd is his ability to put the ball on the floor, run the court and finish as well as outstanding passing ability. I just never saw that in Stevenson or High.

As a freshman, it will take Wilson a bit to adjust to the college level size and strength, he has surprising body control you don't often see in a kid his height and he uses it well. I am telling ya now, that kid has future NBA all star potential if his development curve continues as it has and he stays away from serious injuries, up to him how much of that potential he can realize.

This 2025 class is the best all around class of talent I have seen in a really long time, annoys me to no end that we have not yet cashed in on that amazing talent in this class. We got a couple of combo guards that are not chopped liver but we need length and we so far have not got that need filled. Wilson would seriously help that but we would still need to portal in solid front court already college developed front court guy or 2 even if we were to get Wilson. I still believe Wilson ends up at Ky and will continue to believe that until he announces his final decision. I think I know why we have got a couple crystal balls for the kid in the last week or so, I am not convinced it will be enough.

Hey I get it, I just don't think the first year will be that special. ( Like Hensons wasn't)
Caleb Wilson should absolutely be at least a two year college guy, and then a program can reap the benefits of him being there.
I don't know if THAT is what the Wilson family is interested in. The NBA drafts on potential, of which Wilson has loads.
I think he jumps at the first chance he has to go pro, and hence whatever program that gets him will forever have a " What if" he stayed for year two.
I have said that I think Drake Powell is a two year player, and I believe that because he comes from a Carolina family. I think Drake wants to leave a legacy that he can't achieve in one year.
If I am wrong, so be it.

I don't think Wilson will have those same heartstrings when it come time to make a decision to bolt.
So yes, I like Drake Powells and Zayden Highs legacy at Carolina more than Wilson's potential legacy.
