So with two blockbuster movies at the same time there’s a trend for seeing both same day. Hope these guys enduring Barbie with their girls are getting laid. That’s the only way I could stomach it. Only time I ever watched multiple movies same day was back in the good old days as a kid when the local downtown theatre in Asheville showed “creature features” with campy horror movies. I never understood my mom forbidding me to go (went anyway) until I realized some time later the same theatre was showing porn other days. It was probably cleaned well though.

The only time I watched more than 1 movie was when I sat through Raiders of The Lost Ark twice. I was 8.

I have zero desire to do that now, especially for a movie about Barbie dolls and a movie I've never heard of.

When my kids were younger and still at home, we used to go to a drive in a couple of times a summer (yes, some are still out there and this one actually now has the largest screen in the entire country). On Friday and Saturday nights, they would always show three movies with the first being a G, the next being a PG13 or R and the last being a more serious R or horror flick/supernatural type stuff. They broadcast the audio over FM, so you could simply sit in your vehicle, but most would bring lawn chairs that you put in front of the vehicle and some type of boombox for the sound. Because everyone around you had them as well, it actually sounded quite good. You also could bring and eat your own food/drinks if you bought a food pass upon admission (alcohol technically wasn't allowed, but no one cared so long as you didn't act out and you drank from a cup). It wasn't cheap, but was a great value when you realized that you were getting two or three first run movies, all the good food you could eat, not paying a baby sitter, etc.

We'd generally go early and let the kids play on the playground before dark, watch the first movie and put them to "bed" in sleeping bags in the van between movies at intermission and then we'd get to have a "date" watching the second movie. When they got older and it was appropriate, they'd stay up and watch as well. In all the times we went, never made it to the third movie as I just had no interest or knew I'd fall asleep for sure. Good times, thanks for the memory jog.

That bed/van part is awesome.

My earliest memory is Empire Strikes Back at a drive-in... i wish those were around still.

In the minivan, I'd take out the third row of seats and the kids would have plenty of room to stretch out. I must admit that we technically illegally drove them home (not in seatbelts/car seats) and I'd carry them into their beds once at the house. Few were on the roads that late so the risk was relatively low. Drive-ins are becoming harder and harder to find, but somehow the one we lived near then still remains open. Check out the link as it'll give you a chuckle.

I've watched two in the same day once. It's been so long ago I can't remember which ones. I do know it allowed me to save a lot of money on popcorn and drinks because of free refills.

I sat through The Outlaw Josie Wales twice. I don't remember how old I was but I wasn't still a teenager. I was blown away the first time, obviously. The second time was different, but I could laugh at all the plot bumbling that Clint Eastwood movies always have.

Clint having "plot bumbling"???? I'll just ignore that and endeavor to persevere.

My parents took us to see Mary poppins at the drive in. My only memory is the horror of seeing my dad drop peanuts into his bottle of Coca Cola.
as long as I have lived in NC, and as many times as I've seen this done, I have somehow managed to avoid trying it. Now it occurs to me that I might very well go to the grave without knowing the rewards of peanuts in a bottle of Coke. I'm doing it.
