When will we know coordinators

It sounds like we may have some competition from USC for Kingsbury. Hopefully having Mack here will help him make the best choice.
The first question Kingsbury has to answer for himself is: which would be rather be, an NFL HC or CFB HC?

If the former, then he needs to take a NFL OC job. If the latter, then he needs to decide under which HC 2 or 3 years as OC would best help land his 2nd HC job.

Surely Mack makes sense than Helton.

North Carolina: Per sources, the following coaches will not be retained by Mack Brown — quarterbacks coach Keith Heckendorf, wide receivers coach/special teams coordinator Luke Paschall, defensive line coach Deke Adams, cornerbacks coach Henry Baker, linebackers coach Mike Ekeler, and strength and conditioning coach Lou Hernandez.

Evidently he has been contacted by numerous nfl and cfb teams. Def a hot commodity as an OC. Havent heard of any connection or reason why he might want to work for mack over any other of the opportunities he has but it would be a home run hire.

The one advantage UNC would have over Southern Cal is the possibility of becoming HC after Mack retires. Helton has to get fired for him to get the gig at SC. But if he improves the offense and they start winning, Helton likely stays long-term.

Mack himself is a big advantage. Helton is on the Hot Seat. A 7-5 next year likely gets him fired. Plus, Mack knows everybody and has major influence in a way that Helton cannot approach. Mack telling an AD he thinks you are ready for a 2nd shot at being HC will carry much more weight than Helton saying the same thing.

Seems greg robinson is gonna be DC. He worked under mack twice at tx and had a lot of success under him including a natty and has two sb rings as an assistant with the broncos. But hes 67 and not the young energizer that a lot were hoping for the job.

That's a little disappointing to be honest. I watched a lot of Michigan's games when he was DC there, and they couldn't stop anyone.

He was a terrible HC at Cuse.

Not an impressive hire at all.

To be fair, some guys are better coordinators than head coaches. I just didn't like his work at Michigan. Hopefully his defenses here will be better.

He was good the two seasons he worked under mack. But outside of that....mediocre to really bad. This is a head scratcher for sure. Some are saying its to be a consultant though and not DC. Might just be wishful thinking.

The only reasonable explanation for this hire is if Chizik and other young coaches turned him down.

Apparently, UNC is attempting to assemble a football staff who are all eligible for Social Security.

If this comes to pass, it will prove that everyone who had serious reservations about Mack 2.0 was right to worry. Crap DC

I'm sure you can provide more details, but wasn't he the DC while RichRod was the HC? If so, isn't that a similar situation to any DC that was here under Fed? It's hard to look impressive on D when your guys are on the field 40 minutes a game.

I think he stayed in with Hoke as well.

tos is saying that they jumped the gun on the Robinson hire. Also saying that a hire that will shock the world is in the works... we shall see

Perhaps Mack acted stupidly in haste because he and Robinson are buddies. But even that, if corrected now, is a bad sign. It could mean that Mack is emotionally desperate to relive his last year at Texas to prove he should not have been forced out.

Usually rock solid sources at unc were wrong on g rob being hired. Either someone had a change of heart or someone was told to have a change of heart.
