A van down by the river
You're still touring but you're not selling out stadiums and arenas anymore. You're playing watered-down sets at casinos and state fairs. Six songs at most. You also do some private engagements where you play maybe 3 songs. You even make live appearances on local TV and radio where you play just your hit song. But everywhere you play, every set you perform, you have to play that song. It's the song that made you famous. It's the song that brings the crowd to their feet.

If you could pick the band and the hit, knowing you would have to play it over and over, what would you choose?

That's tough. I whittled-it-down to three.

My Sharona - The Knack (one of THE BEST guitar solos in any genre).

Black Betty - Ram Jam (just a killer song and an even harder solo to play)

The winner, but only if the vocalist can pull-off Leslie West's voice:

You know that Tom Hanks made all those guys learn to play their instruments? I dunno who wrote those songs, but that was a great film and soundtrack. It happened before I was even thought about, but I love it. And, I can say from my knowledge of the vintage gear, there was NOTHING that was incorrect for the era. He nailed it all. Perfect attention to detail.

I'm a gear geek and I see films all the time where they screw-up the equipment used for particular era films. One of the worst examples is The Buddy Holly Story with Gary Busey from about 1978. Not only was the story a complete fiction, the instruments were all from the 70's. And, Buddy Holly played a Stratocaster!

Great opportunity for some music trivia. That song was written by Adam Schlesinger, the bass player for Fountains of Wayne. They of course are a one-hit wonder themselves for the song Stacy’s Mom, which he co-wrote. He’s actually written dozens of songs performed by other artists if you’re interested in checking out his Wikipedia page.

7 star thread right here, folks . . far exceeding the usual 5 star OOTB norm.

Lol upstate SC has its very own one hit legend, Edwin McCain. I’d go crazy if I had to play “I’ll be” six nights a week.

I’d probably go with something like this...

But, are they a one hit wonder? Lucky man is a great song and was fairly popular.
They only had one song make the charts in the US. That's basically the definition of one hit wonder. Most "one hit wonders" have another song or two that does somewhat well.
