If his overall health had not prompted him to step away from full-time coaching, Jerry Kill would be the guy that I would hire straightaway. He is a winner and has carried some of his underappreciated magic to Vanderbilt (as a genius behind the scene advisor) and the magic he conjured at New Mexico State. Yep, NMSU...one of the perennial bottom feeders. But I watched him raise that program to unexpected levels of success during the '22 and '23 football season. He has been a winner wherever he has been a coach.
Heck, I would have given him a call...but no one did I'm sure. Who knows, he might have been tempted. Plus, he's got the right accent.
But, overall, this coaching situation is becoming more and more absurd daily. Seems that this much coveted head coaching position is not quite THAT coveted. I am also convinced, like some others, that as an observer of the political scene in NC there is interference by some of the folks, be it in BOG or BOT, who seem to think they know everything and do not hesitate to meddle in the university business inappropriately.
