Now we wait

With all the changes to college athletics that mark how football is about 9 times bigger than basketball, which means football carries everything, I hope that the powers that always have been rather ambivalent about football, tolerating it so it could pay there way for non-revenues, will realize how much UNC can lose if it does not make its football nationally relevant. They cannot mess up this hire. Another Torbush or Bunting or Fedora, or Jim Hickey, or old man Mack, or 1-10 then another 1-10 Mack, could ruin UNC athletics fiscally.

I am optimistic.

So Mack absolutely tried to undercut Bubba and UNC

This jives with everything I’ve heard and seen. Not to beat a dead horse but Mack absolutely tried to strong arm bubba and UNC.

Talks had been ongoing for some time between Brown’s representatives & UNC Athletics regarding the head coach’s departure at the end of the season (denied by Brown on 11/25/24) and all parties were believed to have been in agreement until a “change of direction” from the Hall of Fame Coach last week.

That reversal mindset escalated as soon as the UNC AD’s departure with MBKB to Maui where representatives pushed the narrative that Brown would indeed come back to the Tar Heel sideline in 2025.

Upon landing in Hawaii, UNC Athletics leadership was blindsided by statements made at Brown’s weekly press conference. This was the prelude to the call between Cunningham and Brown that resulted in the firing.

DAILY DROP (Is Omarion UNC's best RB ever?)

Today, we unveil our new weekday content item the Daily Drop. These will be football and basketball-themed, as we hope to rotate every other day between the sports.

The intent here is to bring different kinds of discussions from the norm that are more news driven and time sensitive. We will look into history, into the future, current times, and have some general fun as well. Any time we veer off into non-sports moments, be assured the main part of the podcast has been completed.

We also want your thoughts on the subjects we discuss. We hope you enjoy them.
